my son knocked his 55 inch sky glass tv and now it has a coloured verticle stripe on the screen, it is less than 2 years old, would this be covered within the warranty ?

Afraid not as this is accidental damage. Sky don't offer screen repairs, the only option would be to call Sky and get a quote for a reconditioned unit. You may be able to claim on your house insurance, depending on your policy.

There have been many reported incidents over the years of vertical stripes of colour appearing on Sky Glass TVs for no logical reason. It could be that your son's TV has fallen victim to this random glitch.
Some people find that leaving their TV turned off at the wall overnight can clear it but if it doesn't then you can ring Sky for further troubleshooting and a potential warranty replacement.
