Why is Apple TV not available on Sky Glass
I see that Sky Glass supports Apple TV+, but not Apple TV; so any movies I have on Apple TV are not available for me to watch on Sky Glass. This seems a major oversight as even the most basic Smart TV allows me full access to Apple TV. Is there something I am missing or a workaround someone can suggest?

I suspect that would decrease the use of sky store (which is a competitor to other movie purchasing services)
alsonit maybe due to Apple and not a sky decision. You could plug a third party device into the glass tv that has access to the full Apple TV services.

Possibly, but I refuse to use Sky Cinema as it is ridiculously expensive for what you get. Getting a third party device will make Sky Glass nothing more than a dumb TV, which I guess is what it is. 🙂

Re: Why is Apple TV not available on Sky Glass
It's not just Sky Glass which only offers the Apple TV+ app. Other brands of TV only have the Apple TV+ app and not the Apple TV app.
If such app availability is important to you then it's imperative to do your own independent research when purchasing an expensive TV.

Re: Why is Apple TV not available on Sky Glass
This appears to be a decision by Apple to retain the Apple TV service on their own hardware while offering Apple TV+ (ironically despite the name a more limited service) to many of their partners. Even Comcast, let alone their Sky division, doesn't hold much sway with an entity on the scale of Apple.
A cynical person might suggest this is related to the legendarily generous profit margin which Apple enjoys on its own manufacturing.

The fully featured Apple TV app (as opposed to the Apple TV+ app) is available on plenty of non-Apple hardware.

The only real benefits of having it on Apple's own hardware include higher bit-rates on Apple TV+ content, iTunes extras (bonus content) on purchased movies and a faster UI.

Re: Why is Apple TV not available on Sky Glass
The Apple TV+ app is intended to only give access to Apple's subscription TV service Apple TV+ which is a discrete service🤔
It is only relatively recent Smart TVs that have access to the Apple TV app whose addition services may include MLS, Library, Store, and other subscription services such as AcornTV, CARNEGIE HALL+, and BFIPLAYER😉

The Apple TV app runs very well on my not particularly recent 2018 Samsung smart TV. It uses the current Apple UI with access to MLS, Library & the Apple Store so movies & series can be purchased and/or rented directly from it.
It is a more fully featured competitor to Sky Store so I can see why Sky wouldn't want it on Glass/Stream.

2018 was about when some TVs first got the app😊
