Just wondering if you can switch from sky q while in contract and actually downgrade your package? has anyone done this?

I did this during the initial soft launch of Sky Stream in October. I still had 6 months left on my Q contract but they terminated it without charge and I was able to start a new 31 day Stream Contract which was a lot cheaper.
I think now you can only switch to an 18 month Stream contract if you want to end a Q contract early and you must do it over the phone, directly with Sky.

That loophole has now been quite firmly closed.

I'm not surprised. I currently pay £26pm on the 31day rolling contract and have ad skipping free until October. New customers would currently have to pay £27pm + £5pm for ad skipping, and would be charged £39.95 for the puck. I got mine for £20. That's quite a hefty increase in less than three months.

I think the issue was more with people using it as a way to exit a Q minimum contract term early without paying a penalty fee.

Funnily enough it was these forums that gave me the idea - I was a long term lurker on here and would read posts but not comment on them. I remember a few people commenting that they'd got out of their Q contracts penalty free by switching to Stream during the soft launch so I gave it a go. We were having building work done and it was the perfect time to get rid of the dish.
I remember being very surprised at how easy they made it to switch. I even asked if there was any problem about ending my Q contract early and they said no, there would be no charge.
Do I regret it? Not really. Stream is a simpler proposition and works well for watching live TV and Sky catch-up content entirely via broadband. Is Q a better product? Probably. It was certainly more reliable for us anyway. Physical recording is still superior to streaming in my opinion. We never did use the apps on Q - they were just too slow and clunky. They're better on Stream but still slower and not as reliable as those on our main TV, Firestick and Apple TV box.

@Scottyboy999 Not sure if you are talking about swapping to Glass or Stream. But I was about 9minths in to my current Q contract and I have swopped to Glass, I did take the 18 month option as it is slightly cheaper than the 31 day rolling contract.
Apart from the TV freezing a couple of times and a few programmes not being available or taking a while, we are very happy with it and don't have any regrets.
