Slky glass picture quality

Hi

Recently had sky glass on a 55" TV

I can't get the picture quality that I'm used to on my old TV with sky Q

Messes with everything yet the picture seems washed out/ foggy?

I've even upgraded my broadband to full fibre . Has anyone else had this issue?? Any help welcome.

Thank

Re: Slky glass picture quality

Is there any particular programme or app that is better or worse than any other?

Whilst out Glass TV in our bedroom doesn't compare with the higher end Sony downstairs, it can still give impressive results. For the record, these are our picture settings:

Viewing mode: Movie

Auto backlight adjustment: Off

Backlight: 75

Aspect ratio: Auto

HDR picture mode: Bright

Dolby Vision picture mode: Bright

default streaming format: UHD

we pay for Atmos/UHD, so we get HDR on Sky Movies, Sky Atlantic etc. HDR looks good on True Detective Night Country (lots of dark scenes with bright headlights etc), The Last Of Us (bright outdoor snow scenes in the winter episodes). Currently watching an episode of the original 60s Star Trek via Paramount+, so it's in HD and SDR. The 60s primary colours all come through looking suitably vivid.

make a note of your current settings (in case you need to reset them) and give the above a try, see if that helps with how your Glass picture looks. Let us know how you get on as well.

Sky Glass & Streak Puck customer w/Sky Entertainments & Netflix, Sky Cinema, Whole Home & UHD/Dolby Atmos add-on.

Re: Slky glass picture quality

Thanks for the reply,  all that did was make it worse! Seems that the higher the brightness the more washed out it is!! I've Switched from a Sony bravia and I'm begging to think I was spoilt with that picture quality!  The puck on that TV upstairs is razor sharp!

If picture quality is a priority for you then Sky Glass really isn't the best option. The screen is a fairly basic backlit VA type LCD panel. It can't go very bright and colours will weaken and look milky from viewing angles other than straight on. Your Sony Bravia may be an IPS type LCD panel which have better viewing angles and often tend to be brighter.

If you are within 31 days of activation you can return the Glass TV for a refund. There are many, many smart TVs on the market which offer much better picture quality and much more versatility than Sky Glass. Most are cheaper too. Add a Stream puck to one of those and you'll get much better image quality. If you purchase from a retailer like John Lewis or Richer Sounds you can get a free 5 or 6 year warranty too.
