Sky series going behind paywall.

Am I alone in being totally p'ed off at Sky?

For years, I've paid for the full entertainment pack, mainly so I had access to Atlantic for top drama series.

Now however, Sky have started to put series onto platforms linked to Cinema.

Season 2 of Your Honor, and now Season 2 of Yellowjackets.

I'm not a big watcher of movies and get enough of what I need from Disney+, Apple TV, Netflix and Prime. I don't need or want Sky Cinema, but I do want to watch series that were previously on Atlantic, to stay on Atlantic. It's absolutely appalling that we're expected to pay extra to watch these. No wonder more and more people are signing up for iptv services.

This is a short sighted, money grabbing exercise by Sky and I think and hope they'll regret it.

seriously miffed!

@Cleveleysbob  It's nothing to do with sky

the rights holders of the shows in question have simply taken back their property to put on their own streaming services and there is nothing sky can do about it

both your honour and yellow jackets are owned by paramount plus hence why they have moved to that service

Showtime/Paramount own the series Your Honor and it was their decision to put it on their own platform Paramount Plus.

Nothing to do with Sky. This was out of sky's control

Sky have a separate distribution agreement with them to include Paramount plus as part of sky cinema.

Paramount plus is also available on its own.

@nolte  I'm assuming they own yellow jackets as well?

Re: Sky series going behind paywall.

Copy @nolte

You're both correct as these are "Showtime" (Paramount) productions. I hadn't realised it was their decision to attach them to Paramount plus that changed the situation.

I still consider this a bit naughty as both shows and I'm sure some future ones, will no longer be available to us. Changing the distribution format for an existing show isn't a good look irrespective of the Company involved.

I know this can happen when a show is cancelled by one Network and is picked up by another, but for the parent Network to switch it between series is a hard one to swallow.

I'm still miffed, but not as much with Sky.

@Cleveleysbob

I agree - it's somewhat irritating when things like this happen.

Like you, we don't subscribe to Sky Cinema and have no plans to, so to get access to certain series' on Paramount+ we've always just signed up for a free month after a series has concluded and binge watched it during that period.

You usually only get 7 day free trials but there are frequent offers around for a whole month's trial (we've had at least three free months since it launched) so you just need to Google it and find the current working code. You have to sign up with a different (random) email address each time and cancel it immediately after activation to avoid being charged after a month.

Re: Sky series going behind paywall.

Same here I will not subscribe to sky cinema it's simply not worth it, way way to many repeats of films that have been on before and most are free on other channels .
