Sky live is loading...

I got thr new Sky Live a couple of days ago, it worked great yesterday, today when I click on a game in says its loading and I need to wait before trying again. I've watched all the tutorials and they all say ti go to the scroll ribbon for sky live, but i don't have one for sky live! I have just unplugged and plugged back in, it seems to be working again for now. Am I going to need to do this each time? Although the only way i could get to sky live is by voice command, still no ribbon for it..

Re: Sky Live Glass Camera Launch & Technical Enquiries

My Sky Live Camera is busted.  Red light suddenly came on the other day.  Tried the usual unplug, leave off etc back on nope nada no change.

However it's no longer showing in the System Information - software on Sky Glass goes to updating but never does and in the My Sky section no mention of Sky Live in the billing.  Total mess looks like an update has borked the camera.

Can anyone forward this onto Sky Customer Service?

Sky Live Installation

How do you install sky live if your tv is wall mounted and flush to the wall?

@Qui14101 you will have to take the TV down if there is no room behind it and probably cut a channel in the wall to run the cable. The Sky provided wall mount has enough room apparently.

Re: Sky Live, the new interactive camera for Sky Glass

This is a serious COMPLAINT

I must complain. Last week I was promised I could pay £242 until 28th July or end of month. Yesterday  I was given NO discount and had to pay £290. No one told me there was a separate box not how it fits. The instruction leaflet with the box set only states one cable goes into the HDMI. I realise the other goes into the camera box. But there is no explanation where the 3rd cable goes.  There is no mention on the web page saying how easy it is.

By the way what happens for people who have their TV on the wall.

Can 2 people play the games. Why not have 2 remote controls than use hands.

Why not also provide a keyboard instead of taking ages using a slow 20th century  system  using a press of a button to type information in any of the search pages.  Even NTL learnt this back in the 20th century.

Clearly whoever had the task has done a poor job also management made assumptions. And yet I get an SMS to give  feedback. Why should I have to pay SMS charges for your benefit.

You should provide a link from a secure email. So I am not going to waste my time.

I have had a UK bank account for over nearly 50 years. Just because I lived in Hungary for 10 years prior to January this year, your computer system would not let me have 3 years credit. I even had a UK passport for last 30 years. You should distinguish between a person who has visited the UK for the first time from ex pats. So you are mean. It is all about the machine not people. You copy other systems without really caring about people. Its time there was a change for the better.

Contact me ONLY by email. Do not contact me by phone, I will not answer. Do as the customer asks not your poor customer service set ups. The reason why big companies ue the phone is because there is no documentary evidence. The caller sticks to a regimented set of stock replies and is not human enough to think outside of the box to help.

Feedback score 1 out of 10.

I did the same SMS from Vodaphone. When I replied on the same day, I had to pay charges and because I gave a poor score the reply was that the survey had ended and hoped I would take part in further feedback.

Unless you can make big guestures to get me back on line, you know how many people I can influence.and how many sales YOU WILL LOSE.

Regards

J Roe

Please see this link on how to raise a complaint using the correct process,  issusing threats won't get your complaint resolved.

@7JR

Threatening global corporations generally isn't very productive, and it's difficult to see in what way Sky could (or indeed should) possibly know how many people any particular customer can 'influence'.

The Live hardware has to be 'a separate box' because manufacturers generally do not build cameras into television sets: there's significant consumer resistance to that.  In this case the Live 'box' is a powerful image-capture, processing and video-output device in its own right.

The 'third cable' is USB-C and goes into the USB-C port on the Glass television between HDMI #3 and the aerial socket (as described here ) : that's why the Glass set has this port.

Wall-mounting is a choice: anyone with their Glass television wall-mounted needs to decide if they can route the Live cabling in a satisfactory manner. The Sky supplied bracket is intended to facilitate this, but third party hardware may not.

Some of the current Live games allow two or more players: that's up to the game creators and mostly based on the nature of the games themselves.

Having motion control rather than separate hardware controllers is a fundamental design choice (and it's a television set, not a dedicated gaming console).  Controller design and manufacture would be a significant extra expense.

No-one has built keyboards for televisions for a very long time.  NTL-era (pre-2006) keyboard remotes are a collectible curio: I have one from a Bush 'Internet Surf Set' dial-up system on my shelf.

Absence from the UK for ten years immediately preceding a regulated loan application is likely to be problematic for any provider of goods and services because it presents a serious challenge to the mandatory credit scoring required by the FCA and carried out by an independent agency rather than the supplier.

You will not receive an email as a result of posting here.  If you wish to reject the Live camera and service within the 30 day cooling off period and receive a refund then that is your right but you'll need to arrange this by contacting Sky directly.

@Denise+Cox it is unlikely to be linked but try a power down reboot by disconnecting the piwer forc30 seconds which normally works. If it doesnt time to call Sky unfortunately

Re: Sky Live, the new interactive camera for Sky Glass

I really appreciate your helpful reply. I think that there could be a link to one of the many youtube links but simple solutions seem to be over looked. I must admit that now reading other customers dissatisfaction about the practicallities trying to get the camera box to work correctly just adds to the fact that quality controls are lacking in so many areas these days.

These forums can provide the appropriate help, others are more concerned with giving a reply just to gain a badge. Major companies provide solutions by getting non-salaried customers to help other customers in difficulties. They will argue it keeps costs down taking advantage of people who really care to help other people.

Re: Sky Live, the new interactive camera for Sky Glass

Thank you for your reply. I have read so many other customers dissatifaction about the new process. It suggests that the Quality Controls have given way to making profit. Also these forums

I just wanted to get my frustration out of the system. Yes I will use the link. When I bought the TV I contacted Openreach. A very helpful engineer listened and answered my queries. He need not but he did. That is what is lacking in these so called A I computerised systems. Maybe the next generationwill find it easier when they get to my age. Somehow I doubt it.

Re: Grainy picture with Sky Live.

@mummyjo1  Did you get the grainy picture issue on Sky Live fixed? I have just installed the camera and find the picture quality really poor and grainy too. Even in daylight.

Re: Grainy picture with Sky Live.

@budgie12345 unfortunately not. The outcome is that there's no fix at the moment but, as they get more feedback from other people, they should be able to tell if it's a bug that needs fixing with an update...fingers crossed it will get sorted sooner rather than later.🤦🏻‍♀️

@budgie12345 @mummyjo1

The most likely cause of a 'grainy' image on a webcam is inadequate lighting: unfortunately there's a bit of a contradiction between the subdued light which is best for television viewing and the ability of a small image capture chip to perform well.

I'd suggest trying Live in a fully lit room (preferably daylight rather than artificial light) to see what it's like then, to rule out a hardware problem.
