Sky Glass without subscription
I'm thinking of cancelling my Sky subscription and Switching to EE TV (as its significantly cheaper).
Question, does anyone know if its possible to plug and use a BT or EE TV box into a sky glass V1 TV?

Yes, you can attach any device which connects via HDMI to a Sky Glass TV, including a BT or EE TV box. You then just select the appropriate HDMI input on the Glass TV and you'll see and hear the output of the EETV box.

Re: Sky Glass without subscription
Thank you. That's really helpful. Is there anything on the Sky Glass TV that will not longer work without a subscription?

Re: Sky Glass without subscription
As long as you keep your Sky account, (no need for a subscription), the apps will still work. Plus if you connect an aerial lead to the Glass TV, (I assume you have one, or are you going down the ip route?), then you can use the built in Glass tuner to watch Freeview channels.

You won't get any of the live streamed channels basically. As long as you keep your SkyID active you'll still have access to the apps. The Glass TV will basically function as a big monitor with a soundbar built-in.

Re: Sky Glass without subscription
@Lrrn2 The way to keep your sky id active is NOT to factory reset the tv

Re: Sky Glass without subscription
Do I need an aerial lead. I assumed I could watch live TV through the BT/EE box?
Do I need a home set up blokey? £30.00 one-off cost.

Re: Sky Glass without subscription
I guess the Sky account will still be active on the basis that I'm still paying for the Sky Glass tv. 😂

EETV has the option to use Aerial or IP during set up. But using IP will result in fewer channels and some recording restrictions. ie You can't record any BBC channel, you can set it to record but it just leaves a marker, and when you "play" it back it takes you to iplayer (same as Stream). And on any ITV recording you won't be able to FW the ads regardless of any ITVX subscrition. The upside is more HD channels compared to Freeview.

The BT/EE box can be used without an aerial connection. You can get the service delivered either via broadband or aerial if you choose the EETV Pro box or you can get the service entirely streamed via the EE branded Apple TV 4K box. You're probably better off asking what would suit you best on an EE forum as Sky don't like their competition being overly discussed on their forums!

The fact you are still paying for it doesn't come into it if you factory reset the tv it will remove itself from your account and disassociate itself from your Sky id meaning you will lose access to the apps
you are still liable for the payments regardless of whether the tv is linked to your account or not
