Sky Glass remote doesn't work correctly with channel 4 app
Once I rewind or fast forward you can't stop it.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Sillky TBH the Ch4 App is pretty useless and there are a number of known issues with it that Ch4 are trying to resolve. In addition to the issue you have (and I frequently get) I also get render failures and DRM failures.
I have found the best solution when one off these problems occur is to select a different App for a few seconds and then return to Ch4 again. This usually resolves it but last night I actually had to pull the plug for a minute and then it was resolved.

ditto to the above issues.. ch4 player has had these streaming and drm issues for at least six months to my memory.. the app is a PoS..

We found that usually if you pause ch4 player and try and wind back > 1second, and play it barfs with that DRM failure.
I had a job interview at CH4 some years ago (Nov 2019) where i was talking to them about "playback and streaming issues" which amounted to anololies with the ch4 player that they couldn't resolve. When I asked further they said it was relating to DRM issues. so basically nearly five years on it's not fixed..

what i suspect is happening is that the CH4 App is hitting some kind of memory(ram) issue on the sky Glass tv OS (or in the SkyQ/other device) when rewinding and playing and can't retrieve the authentication for the stream (i.e. the DRM cert/token) that it had or needs to obtain at the moment you press play. Or the CH4 front end service is dropping the connection from the CH4 player on the device which is streaming from it.
I've often thought about getting low level with my laptop and doing a network packet capture from the SkyGlass device and try to reproduce it and figure it out- but... i've got a life 😄

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Munkeh72 Your technical knowledge is far superior to mine. I have no clue as to why it happens but as I mentioned in post 4 above I have just figured out a workaround.. TBH its a pretty naff app at the best of times which is a shame as I watch a number of things on Ch4. It's a little annoying but nothing to get stressed about. 😀

That made me laugh. I work in IT so completely went with it and thought the same 😅.
