Sky Glass - Malaysia

Hi

we have had sky glass for 2 years... loved it. We are moving to Malaysia in August 2024, will we be able to use it there?

Not in it's current subscription state, you may be able to get the local TV using the aerial input, however you would be best selling it and then buying a TV locally in Malaysia.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

@Skynewbie3

You could use the Glass set as a display panel, but the freight charges would be orders of magnitude more than it's worth.  What you can't do is consume any Sky content that way, as Sky UK only has legal sanction and content rights to stream in the UK.

Remember that while the internet is (almost) everywhere, media regulation, broadcasting standards, 'taste & decency' and commercial distribution rights are still inherently and intensely a matter of national concern and local law.

Also be aware that Sky, like all similar geo-specific subscription providers, attempts to detect and block VPN access.

Not sure that would work unless the DTTV tuner has been specified for it and the country is listed in the GUI, otherwise the set won't know the frequency band to scan.

Oh, and Malaysia doesn't appear to do much DTTV anyway, and is (sensibly) now skipping straight to IPTV.
