Sky Glass Gen 1 Sonos Soundbar compatibility

After reading reviews of the Gen 2 Sky Glass TVs. The built in soundboard does not get good reviews. So I am thinking of buying a Gen 2 and then adding a separate Sonos soundbar.  Will the soundbar broadcast Dolby Atmos wirelessly through the Gen 1 TV ?

@Dunny1 I'd maybe hold off buying a soundbar until you hear the Gen Two sound yourself. I've not got any issues with the way it sounds. If there's a retailer near you that sells Glass it may be worth a visit to see it and hear it in action?

If you're going to buy a soundbar you might as well get a different make of Smart TV to be honest.

Without wanting to insult you, is it possible you've read reviews of the new Glass Air, which only has two speakers compared to the seven in Glass?

Is it the Gen Two or Gen One model you are looking to buy? Your post mentions both so I'm a bit confused.

To buy outright the Gen 2 is almost twice the price of a Gen 1.  What HiFi did a comparison review of Gen 1 v Gen 2 . It was their conclusion I was going by.  They even said a cheap Sony soundbar (£120 approx) sounds better than the Gen 2 built in one. I last had Sky Q ( with a dish ) and am in between buying a property. The idea of no separate receiver box appeals to me so another make screen would not be my preferable choice

@Dunny1 You're welcome. As ever though, reviews are subjective, so if you can see a Gen Two somewhere it would help decide if you needed a soundbar or not. What's poor for one person is good for another.

For me, the sound is good enough without needing a soundbar (I do have a 5.1 system for Blu-ray so could shove it through there if I needed to, but I don't need to). I recently bought Queen 1 on Blu-ray Atmos and it sounded amazing through the Glass system - I'd buy all my albums on Atmos if they sound that good!

@Dunny1

What HiFi posted an interesting article a few weeks ago about the Gen2 Glass TV and the quality vs cost factor.

It's worth a read if you're considering buying a new TV & soundbar:
