Sky Glass Air or Sky Gen2

Hi, can anyone recommend which I should purchase?  I know the Sky Air is cheaper than the Gen2.  It would be my main tv so want to make sure I pick the correct one.  All help gratefully received! Thank you!

@NJH If it's going to be your main TV then Sky Glass is the better option due to having a better speaker set up than the Air.

Glass has seven internal speakers, the Air only has two, so you may need a soundbar to really get decent sound with the Air.

If you're intending to wall mount the TV then you will need to order the mount at the same you order the TV or VESA wall mounts are compatible (just make sure it can take the weight of the TV). Obviously the Glass is heavier than the Glass Air.

Thank you!  I was thinking that would be the better option.  My current tv is a 48" and worrying the 43" would be too small so may opt for the 55" - thoughts?

@NJH I have the 55" model. I can't make a decision over which size you should order - that's your decision. I guess it depends on how much room you have in your room for it!

The 55" was right for me. The 65" would be too big. The 43" too small for my eyesight!

The stand is easy to assemble but it is a two person job to lift it onto the stand and also make sure you're putting it on the right way round. If you get premium delivery (either free as a Sky VIP or for a fee) the delivery guys will sort this for you.

The other thing to consider is using ethernet to connect the TV to your router (turn off WiFi in the Settings). It's a more reliable and stable way to connect. If your router is too far away then consider getting Powerline adapters. The WiFi will drive you crazy otherwise!

Great!  I am a VIP so will be leaving it all to the delivery guys.  Router is next to the tv also but will make sure the guys sort that out for me too!

One more thing, - I have another tv which I use and has a extra skyq box (mini I think it is caled) which can be used idependently to my current tv/skyq box - will this make any difference by having Sky Glass?  Sorry, not very technical!

If you find that the 55" Glass Gen2 is too big and you're used to 48" then it may also be worth considering Sky Stream with a new 48" OLED TV and a soundbar.

A Sky Stream puck will give you an identical Sky experience to what you get with a Glass TV, but with the added flexibility and the alternative (many would argue better) screen technology that an OLED can offer.

It's possible to purchase 48" OLED TVs and very capable Dolby Atmos soundbars for the same/less cost as a 55" Sky Glass Gen2.

My advice is to always do some research when you're potentially spending hundreds of pounds on a TV which you would likely want to last several years.

Sky Glass, both the gen2 and the Air are excellent all-in-one solutions if you're tight on space, and want to spread the cost over a long period of time, interest free, but do make sure they will provide the type of image and sound quality you hope for.

You can add the Whole Home subscription to a Sky Glass or Sky Stream subscription which will provide you with an additional Sky Stream puck, the equivalent of a minbox, to attach to your second TV.

Be aware that this puck will need to be able to receive fast and stable broadband as well, otherwise it won't function well.

You won't be able to use Sky Q with Sky Glass/Sky Stream. To order a product on the sky streaming platform it will process the cancellation of Sky Q. If you want to make the switch and be able to watch Sky in multiple rooms you would need to add the Whole Home pack and order a Sky Stream puck which will plug into any other TV you have.

@NJH The delivery guys don't do that. They will put it on its stand and place the TV where you want it but you'll have to fit the cables (power, HDMI for Blu-ray, ethernet etc) yourself.

Setting up is easy. Just plug in, switch on and follow the on screen instructions. The key thing is once set up to go into the Settings and turn off the WiFi if using ethernet. Also set Networked Standby to On and Overnight power saving to Off.

Everything else settings wise is up to you like motion detection, voice control etc but people on here can help if you need it.
