Sky Glass 2 - Banding on screen when watching football

I have noticed when watching football on my new Sky Glass Gen 2 that there are faint lines appearing vertically when the camera pans left or right. I havn't noticed it on any content. Any ideas what i should do or will sky do anything?

@schiv85 I'd be inclined to ring Sky and see what they say. I haven't seen it on my Gen Two when watching the football so it could be an indication of a TV problem that may lead to needing a replacement to be organised. I had my first Gen Two for less than a week before I had to get a replacement due to a faulty panel.

That's indicative of DSE (Dirty Screen Effect) which is not uncommon on TVs like Sky Glass which use VA type backlit LCD panels. It's a lot easier to notice on large blocks of colour like green football pitches, and once you see it, it's very hard to un-see it.

You can try for a replacement but you may get a panel which is worse - it's always a bit of a panel lottery when it comes to these types of TVs. It was part of the reason I moved to OLED where every pixel is self-emitting rather than backlit from an LED array.

This is quite common for that type of TV.  I would see how much it effects or how bad it is because you could end up playing the panel lottery game, and could end up with a worse panel unfortunately @schiv85

Yeah I'm not sure if it is actually bad or I'm just over reacting.

You've paid up to £1199 for this TV - if you're not happy with it, tell them you want it sorted. Don't let the likes of Sky get away with charging a premium for at best, mediocre hardware.

I got in touch with them last night. They didn't have a clue what I was going on about but the girl said she would replace it and I only have to wait until Saturday. Pretty good customer service to be fair. Hopefully this one is better.

So had my second Gen 2 delivered. Still has the same issue. I can still see fei t white-ish lines when the camera pans while looking at the pitch. Can someone else try watching football in UHD in particular and tell me if they see this issue? I'm assuming a third TV would just be the same.

No issues with the picture in UHD on my Gen Two. Could it be related to your picture settings maybe? Are you using pre-set modes or your own custom settings?

Of course, it could be you've received another faulty TV, which is bad luck to say the least! I'd be inclined to play about with the picture settings first before asking for another exchange.

I've tried custom, auto and all of the presets. The picture is perfect until it land left to right at speed and you can clearly see the feint lines appear all across the TV.

I think I've been unlucky again then because it is quite distracting and considering I only really use the TV for football, it's not ideal.

That sucks. Sad for you but as was said earlier, you're paying a lot for a TV so you need to be happy with it.

I've rang them and this time they want to investigate it as a software issue and get back to me. I'm not convinced it's software but we shall see.

It's categorically not a software issue.
