I've rang them and this time they want to investigate it as a software issue and get back to me. I'm not convinced it's software but we shall see.

Banding on an LCD tv is not software related. It is a common defect on most LCD TV's. If you get a clean panel then it is quite rare. This is one of the main reasons I personally switched to Oled technology and also the fact the picture quality can't be beaten.

They are sending me a 3rd TV. If its still the same on this one then I guess I need to make a decision on whether this is the TV for me.

Re: Sky Glass 2 - Banding on screen when watching football

So this is my 3rd TV. These lines you can see here are essentially what shows up when the TV pans from side to side when watching anything, mostly in UHD, that has a solid colour background. Football for example. This must just be a something that these TVs have? My old 4k LED Samsung didn't even have this when watching 4k content.

Hoping the link works by the way else this post is useless.

I have noticed when watching football on my new Sky Glass Gen 2 that there are faint lines appearing vertically when the camera pans left or right. I havn't noticed it on any content. Any ideas what i should do or will sky do anything?

Can't see the image of the lines.

@schiv85 I can't believe you got three faulty TV's in a row but stranger things have happened I guess.

I don't see those on my TV. Forgive my asking but have you tried playing around with the picture settings to see if it helps? I've set up my own custom settings because the presets are a bit too garish for my tastes.

All I've done with these TV's is play around with the settings. The only mode that seems to make it look any better is Extra Vivid and I'm assuming that's because it drowns out any inconsistencies on the screen.

That's a classic case of DSE - Dirty Screen Effect. The screen uniformity is poor due to uneven backlighting.

It's not uncommon in LED backlit VA-type LCD panels which are used in Sky Glass. Sometimes you can get a good one, but good ones are few and far between.

@BenJoBanjo so would you just say that I'm best off either sticking with this one or just giving up all together? It's odd to me that nobody else has commented to say that they have this issue too if it's so common.

@schiv85 Maybe your eyesight is more attuned to see it than most? Sadly I suspect that the Glass TV is not for you as you'll probably keep seeing it regardless of how many times you replace the TV.

This is how football looks on my Gen Two. How does it compare to yours?

@Gavin+Noble that's a still image and mine looks amazing on a still image or when the camera doesn't have to move particularly fast. It's when it pans across the screen you can see the lines on the pitch. Mostly when watching UHD.
