Sky glass gen 2

I have sky glass gen1 55inch does the new gen2 fit on the same flat wall mount if I get the same size etc

No the back of the gen2 is different and comes with a new wall mount which is £99 extra. The base plate and wall mount are separate unlike gen 1.

@Jporch316  yeah thank you as I'm very happy with it, although a pic taken on a phone and uploading it compressed to a forum definitely don't do it justice. I definitely can't see myself upgrading this TV at anything like the frequency of the previous 3 I've bought since we moved up here in March 2017.

I mean even she reluctantly acknowledges how good the picture is each time she returns from having visited either of her 2 kids and the grandkids for a weekend down sarf in Essexshire.

She's not at all in to AV so it's not like she actively looks to compare picture quality of various televisions like I always do. It's just a case of her having got used to watching everything on OLED all the time at ours over the last few years and then noticing the difference when watching the same sort of content on LCD panels elsewhere.

Talking of cats, we've got 2 of our own who don't actually show much interest in what's on the telly. The younger one, Mildred, does very occasionally I suppose but she's far more of a huntress in the outside world thus gets her kicks that way unfortunately.

If you want a wall mount with gen 2 it must be ordered at the same time as the TV, it is an additional cost of £99, if you don't order a wall mount it would not normally be supplied with Gen 2 otherwise.

While i am not keen on Sky glass i will point out that most TV's still dont have Ethernet ports that go above 100mbps. I have a high end Panasonic OLED one of their premium more expensive MLR ones (The newer higher end brighter OLED tech) and it STILL only has a 100mbps ethernet port despite supporting every type of HDR and 144hz VRR HDMI 2.1 etc etc.

I also have a 75 inch Samsung 2024 QLED in living room becuase QLEDS cope better with bright light and our living room is bright and QLEDS are even better than MLR OLEDS at countering bright light and that also has 100mbps Ethernet port.

I have not encountered a TV that does 1000mbps ethernet yet but then i have never owned a modern Sony or LG TV so maybe the brands do? I know TCL and Hisense only do 100mbps too.

Its just TV companys cheaping out? I aint sure but 1gbit ports on TV's are rare!

@mrbacon we've got a 77" C3 which I bought about 18 months ago.

I believe the speed is capped at 100 Mbps through the ethernet port but can't confirm or refute this as I've never actually put it to the test myself. 

Off the top of my head I believe I've got the Q box, PS5 and Switch connected via their LAN ports but the TV and Series X are connected wirelessly.

If you're desperate to get a faster connection via ethernet then some people have had success by using a USB to Gigabit ethernet adapter such as this on their TVs. Plug it into an available USB port on the TV (I think it needs to be USB 3.0 or faster) then connect an ethernet cable and run a network check using the TVs Netflix app. If your TV recognises it then you'll get better speeds than the TVs capped ethernet port.

That assumes the TV includes the necessary drivers for an USB ethernet adapter. It'd be completely pointless anyway - there's no streaming service today which could saturate a 100Mbps connection. Even Stream and TNTSports (which have the highest bandwidth requirements as they have live content) rarely use more than 35Mbps.

I agree, Apple TV I believe uses the most bandwidth at 30mbps or so for its 4K HDR. Also Youtube can use a lot if your watching 4K 60fps videos and Youtube also supports 8K already too but not that many people own a 8K TV yet anyway.

So 100mbps is plenty fine for anything currently, We may need faster than 100mbps in the future for say 8K 120hz cloud gaming or some service like that.

Looks like sky live camera is discontinued? Does gen 2 have a built in camera? If not how would zoom work?

It hasn't. Sky said it's a bug on the new Glass marketing page but it will be back soon. 

It isn't built in and will be available as a standalone product again once they fix it.

Have removed your other duplicate posting.

As mentioned above, Sky Live has not been discontinued.

You can still order it, but not it seems when ordering at same time as a Glass TV for some.

It works in same way on a Glass gen2 as it does for a Glass gen1
