Hello, I'm not a sports fan and don't really follow any in particular except for F1. I'm not prepared to pay for full Sky Sports and they only provide F1 for glass and stream as part of full Sky Sports any one know why you have to have sky a for just the f1 channel?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Tigerh118 As mentioned by @SKY1992bf Sky in their wisdom have decided to only make the offer available to those with Sky Q. I personally find this highly annoying as they are basically penalising people who have switched to Glass or Stream. Like you, I would happily pay £15 a month during the F1 season but I will not pay £27 (from April) to have access to loads of other sports I won't watch.

@Tigerh118
Exactly. If your on Q you can have a choice but glass they have stopped this of having either football or just F1, you have to have it all.
that is why I have cancelled mine now, until they change their minds.
My package is getting lower and lower since having glass as the pricing structure is naughty what they are doing.
If you can have it on Q you should be able to have on glass.
I await some responses now of trying to back sky up, don't bother I heard it all before and I will watch in other ways and save £££££.
When sky stop ripping us glass users off I may come back.

This is my views also was looking forward to the reason and would happily pay the £15 per month as I do not follow any other sport and as there is a dedicated channel not sure why this is restricted, oh well I will have to refer to alternative methods

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@MachLoop I've been checking out your Sky Glass related YouTube channel which I found to be very informative and have subscribed. Using your picture settings has improved my picture so thanks for that.
Back to the F1 offer. I had the full Sky Sport package last year but ended up cancelling it after the end of the F1 season as the overall implementation of Sport on Glass was not very good (live viewing was no problem it was just catchup). If I was not able to watch F1 live I sometimes ended up viewing the highlights on C4 as the full race was not always available on F1 catchup. As mentioned in my previous post I would subscribe to the F1 only offer if it was available to Glass users.

Thank you for your kind words on my videos.
Glad it helps some ppl out.
Agree with the F1 issue.👍🏼

@Tigerh118 same!!! I've just seen you can get the f1 channel subscription for £15 a month but only if you have sky q!! No way I'm paying for full sports

I have just seen the Sky F1 offer - (to Sky Q customers only)
Sky really aren't doing themselves any favours when it comes to customer relations are they.
I remember having F1 for £10 several years ago and losing it when I "upgraded".
I then "upgraded" from Sky Q to Glass and get shafted again!
Suppose I will just have to watch live on the Interweb! Thanks Sky!😐

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Flakbear I completely agree with you. You mention viewing it live on the interweb, how do you do that as I would be interested in trying to do the same. As things stand it will be the highlights on Channel 4 🙁

Sky are literally backing us into a corner because they've been allowed to buy the monopoly on F1 viewing.
They have the TV rights and force you to buy a package you don't want BEFORE you can even consider taking out Sky F1
And they have the streaming rights so we have no option of using F1 TV here.
I'm the USA you can subscribe to all F1 raves for under $100 a year. With Sky, by the time you take out a standard TV package then the sports channels you're over £500 a year.
Sky are ripping us off and F1 are allowing them to get away with it by continually allowing Sky to buy the rights for both TV and streaming, and they just let them extend their contract..... its an absolute joke.
For this reason I've cancelled my Sky package and will be watching CH4 highlights. [content removed]
You tried to force our hands.... if you were smarter you'd realise that allowing us to take out the single channel we want would mean more customers... instead you just alienate more and more potential customers every year with your greed....

The more people that do this the more likely Sky will listen and maybe do something about it.

You'd be better off complaining to F1. They were the ones who chose to sell Sky exclusive rights for the UK - if they were that concerned about viewers, they'd have accepted a lower fee and retained rights to sell F1TV in the UK.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@rscott I looked into F1TV a couple of days ago but was disappointed to find it was not available in UK. I suspect it was part of the licencing agreement with Sky 🤬

I'm guessing Sky offered more money to get exclusive rights and F1 were happy to take it.
