Removing Old Dish

I've moved into a property which has an old and unsightly dish in the garden. Do I have to have a tv chap remove it? Is it safe for removal by me?

TIA

Dish ownership transfers to the subscriber at installation and passes to subsequent occupants: it's up to you to decide if and how to remove it (but Sky won't do so).  Safety assessment is also up to you: if there's no live Sky box at the other end then the coaxial cable isn't carrying any current*.

*unless it's actually a two way data satellite dish rather than satellite TV, in which case there could be a mains connection.  Always safest to assume any cable is 'live' if considering cutting it.
