Problems with Sky Glass

Sky admit that series link through play list on certain channels doesn't work. They say Sky Glass has no hard drive so can't store recordings but it does if you add it to plsy  list whilst watching it during broadcast.

This isn't news. Sky glass or streaming pucks do not record. Some channels cloud record and some don't. Streaming rights is far more of a mind field than traditional broadcasting.

You will find that you add things to your playlist on one channel and it will try and play back with a different provider and there isn't much that can be done unfortunately.

Hi @tomsands

Your message has confused me a little. You mentioned recording and hard drives in your first post and then have an issue with series linking? If you provide more information on you issue the community will do it's best to assist.

Series link works for content that is cloud recording as far as I can see in the content in my playlist.. is there specific content or channels you are having issues with?

Re: Problems with Sky Glass

The channels are CNBC and PBS America neither have a catch up service. It will record whilst watching but not on a series link. Really a downgrade from Sky Q

News channels (especially other countries) have always been a bit hit and miss .... especially with no catch up service.  This in no way indicates a broken playlist !

im assuming you are using the tv guide to add the programmes to your planner (and not voice search) as this is the most reliable way.

Re: Problems with Sky Glass

Yes I am but it still doesn't work unless you are watching it live and then it only records the one episode. Series link not working even when it says it has

News channels on Sky Q and Sky Glass/Sky Stream often do not have series links available for many of their programmes.

Even Sky News itself does not often series link some of  its programmes.

It is the channel broadcaster itself that decides for the channels you mentio, it is not under Sky control.

@Jporch316  There is no consistency with news broadcasts.  My local Channel Island news has no watch from start on ITV but I can get it on catchup on ITVX the following day which seems a bit pointless.   BBC on the other hand has watch from start on my local news and doesn't seem to get stuck on the CW rail which is a bonus.

It is not a case of does NOT work ... it is a case of not available because the broadcaster doesn't pay for streaming rights🤔
