Occasional purple lines on screen and regular issues turning on tv despite standby light being on.

The screen occasionally has purple bands that only disappear after recycling power.

The tv frequently doesn't turn on from standby and is only resolved after power recycling.

Not uncommon with Sky Glass. Rebooting by powering off at the wall for a minute seems to be the standard Sky means of (temporarily) solving such issues.

Some customers have found it useful to buy a smart plug which can be controlled via an app on your mobile phone or tablet. If you plug your Glass TV or Stream puck into it then it makes it easier to do a full power cycle without having to struggle reaching plug sockets round the back of the telly!

Thanks Derek I appreciate the response and the smart plug suggestion makes a lot of sense.

Not sure this is a permanent solution as Sky should provide a reliable product that doesn't have the many faults that I've been reading about on the community.

I think the main issue is that for most of these issues there isn't really a fix that can be applied to the existing hardware.

the hardware was outdated when the glass was first launched and hasn't been updated since. The glass isn't exactly that beefy in terms of specs and what would likely fix a large number  of issues where a reboot fixes it is actually upgrading the hardware and supplying the TV with more memory, better WiFi connect. Fundamentally the TV is just a computer and it's severely lacking in resources in order to function as smooth and quick as most would expect.
