Re: Not happy

If you mean from the continue watching rail then you can remove them but it is a bit of a faff. Select the latest episode in a series fast forward through it and it will drop off the rail. This does not always work but I've never had an issue in removing content.

You are right though why the programmers cannot add a remove function is beyond me. Apple TV appears to be the only platform that has this functionality sorted.

Hi @Dee167 and welcome to the forum.  Unfortunately that is the way the system works, it's all or nothing as you cannot remove individual episodes or individual series.  I know it's a personal thing but it doesn't bother me as on a number of occasions I have watched an episode of something and then decided I would watch all the previous series.

Hi @Gincap I mentioned a delete function again on the SU forum only a few days ago but got no official response so suspect there is nothing in the pipeline at the moment.   .I had a number of others agreeing with me though.

If you are referring to the playlist then you do get used to it - it should default to the next unwatched episode so it's not too bad .......

Re: Not happy

I can't understand the reluctance to add this feature, surely it is within the capabilities of Sky OS!!!!  This one addition alone would bring a vast improvement to the enjoyment of streaming. When you've finished with old recording in Q the option is there to delete and remove future recordings, stream should be no different same principle different functionality.

Just a guess but i'd assume the way it functions is all due to the architecture of the platform, with it using various APIs to pull and collate show information and episodes from a variety of sources. Obviously, the key difference with Sky Q is that the episode is downloaded locally to the hard drive, so it can be deleted.

True but that is how Apple operates, pulling data from all apps many more than on Sky but they still have the functionality to mark episodes as watched to mark entire series as watched and or remove from the continue watching.

The technology is there but is the will 🤔

I'm sure I've said this before but the addition of a "pinned rail" where you can pin whichever shows you are currently watching would be good. Logically you can just "unpin" them when you ve finished.

or a show/hide button (in a setting similar to playlist manage all)

Oh yeah - i was specifically referring to a show on a playlist showing all the episodes/seasons. Dare i say i suspect its perhaps still an architectural issues with how the platform was designed. The reason I suspect this is that the blue progress bar which you can use to denote what episodes of a show you have watched seems to be disappear after about a month. I've always thought the reason the platform works this way is purely due to most of the data being held server side, so to help with loading times and to reduce server side data storage thats why data like that only gets stored for the short term.

100% you should have the ability to remove content from the continue watching rail

I can only agree it is what it is every platform has issues Apples Watchlist is dire actually an embarrassment I have shows in there from last year and they can't be removed all linked to the Now app 🙄

Sky CW rail is manageable just a bit of a faff but it and Playlist have improved immensely since my last delve into stream.

Maybe one day in an update the option will appear 🫢

Doesn't a long press on the item in your Apple tvOS watchlist bring up the option to remove it? Rather than a "dire embarrassment", I would describe Apple's as the best example of how a watchlist should be managed. I've never had an issue adding or removing from it in over 2 years of use.

Amazon's FireTV OS works well too. Hover over a title on your continue watching rail, click the menu button on the remote and the option to 'Add to Watchlist' or 'Remove from Continue Watching' both appear.

It's not diffidult, so I really don't know why Sky can't or can't be bothered to do similar.

Yes I know how to remove content I've had an Apple TV from launch and the CW rail works without fault but the Watchlist rail does not I have 3 items in it from Now TV going back to last Christmas. I have had many calls with Apple over the months trying to remove these items with no luck. Apple eventually requested my log in details so they could launch my Apple TV but still can't remove. Apple admitted they are at a loss and suggested the issue is with Now as this is the only app with the issue but only these 3 programs in my list but one of the tech guys I spoke with has the same issue in the States with HBO Max.  Apple say that my case is still open 10 months in and.........

I'm not talking about Continue Watching but Watchlist they introduced late last year.

I agree TVOS is probably the strongest platform and I am an Apple fan but they too have issues.

I see. Probably some corrupt metadata somewhere. If you have an iPhone or iPad I assume you've tried removing from the Watchlist on the TV app on there and letting it sync back to tvOS?

I wonder if it's been caused by the platform shifts. Both HBO Max and NOW have undergone major app platform changes in the past couple of years. Metadata has possibly corrupted at some point during that change both in your case and the guy in the States.
