Is Devolo Magic 2 compatible with Sky Glass?
I'm living in what is effectively a Faraday Cage (corten steel walls and roof) and would like to buy a Sky Glass (installing an aerial is too problematic). I use Devolo Magic to enhance a PlusNet WiFi which is connected through copper over 200m from the street, which has fibre optic. I may have to wait several years before the cable is updated.. Consequently without it our WiFi does not meet the current upload criteria. I note that Sky does not recommend products other than its own but Devolo works here and I'll stick to it. Does anyone have experience of using Sky Glass with a Devolo Magic 2? If so do you plug it in or use the Ethernet? I'm on a steep learning curve and would appreciate hearing others' experience with this problem. I admit I'm a bit nervous of the negative comments re WiFi connectivity in general!

If you are going to use powerline networking you will not be using WiFi🤔
Power line networking is supported by Sky Stream devices😉

Your answer foresees a happier New Year, which I wish you too. Thank you for this quick and positive reply. Should I plug the Sky Glass socket into the Devolo Magic 2?

Never mind the Devolo, the key issue is what broadband speed you get from your PlusNet connection. Sky Glass really needs fast and stable broadband to function at all (30Mbps minimum) so you need to make sure you are receiving that in the first place.
If you have sufficient speed then it would be adviseable to connect a Glass TV directly to your PlusNet router via ethernet cable, then you don't need to involve the Devolo at all, but if you're too far from the router then an ethernet cable from the Magic 2 to the Glass TV should (if bandwidth and electrical cabling allows) provide a decent enough connection.

@Frickie do you know how to logon to your PlusNet router to check your router to internet sync?

At 200 metres from a cabinet (and assuming decent copper) FTTC should be capable of delivering 80Mbs to the router. This is completely different to the potential speed of WiFi from the router to the rest of the property, which is down, in part, to building fabric.

Re: Is Devolo Magic 2 compatible with Sky Glass?
Thank you for your kindness in following this up.
I don't know how to read the speed from my router but PlusNet sent me a letter in August 23 giving a download of 26-29Mb, min guaranteed speed of 23.6Mb. I've now ordered the Devolo Magic 2 and am unsure on the advice received whether to plug it in or connect to it via a lead, or even both?! The router is inaccessible to run a lead from.
Happy New Year, Frickie

Feel embarrassed as I see Jones the Cat has given me the answer which I hope has resolved the issue, which is why I ordered the Magic 2. Probably have to get by on a wing and a prayer!
The television is for my brother who is even more ancient than me and relies on SkySport to make his day...

That broadband speed really isn't ideal for Glass. You might just about get the service to work but stability is quite likely to be an issue, regardless of how you connect it to your router.

That suggests the fibre cabinet is considerably further away than 200 metres: more like a kilometre unless the copper cabling is really bad.
It's really too low a speed to hope for UHD on Glass, and close to the minimum which Sky advises for HD.

@TimmyBGood @Jones_The_Cat @Exiled-in-HH
While I could enhance my download to 30-42Mbs the minimum download would be 27.3Mbs, and I'd lose my telephone line (which I'll probably lose in 2025 anyway). So it looks like a no brainer - have to find a way of putting in an aerial so will have to find someone willing to drill through steel (Superman!). It's all desperately annoying and difficult but supporting my brother is key. Thank you for your generosity.
On my third conversation with PlusNet learned that our green box is in the next village so, as you remarked, a considerable distance away.

VOIP uses a few tens of kilobits per second: many orders of magnitude less than streaming video services.

Re: Is Devolo Magic 2 compatible with Sky Glass?
@Frickie If the primary aim is to get Sky Sports... you could try NOW TV Sky's budget internet TV service. It will work with lower speeds than Sky Stream🤔
Do you have Smart TVs?

Re: Is Devolo Magic 2 compatible with Sky Glass?
Seems he'd prefer the whole kit and caboodle and given our age it's good to spoil him. Someone mentioned a TP-Link router with a SIM card ADDITIONAL to my PlusNet router... perhaps this could resolve the impasse?
