You can connect an EE television box to a Glass set over HDMI cable, just like any other external device. Without a Sky subscription the Glass functionality will be limited.

As @TimmyBGood indicates you can watch through the box you plug in to the HDMI port. However see: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-glass-without-a-subscription
You can access the apps on your glass. You can also access the TV input app and watch some DTT (Freeview) channels if you have an aerial connected. See: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/tv-input-app-on-sky-glass
