Help please! Sold a sky glass

Hi I've factory reset and sold my sky glass & de-registered it from my account. Buyer is trying to tell me I need to do a code so he's able to use it.

I've called sky and been told not to do that and for the buyer to call up to activate it.

which apparently he now has to sign up to sky to use it, is this correct?

@David20202020 Yes, he needs to ring Sky to activate it but he doesn't need to sign up to Sky if he doesn't want to.

Re: Help please! Sold a sky glass

He's begging me to do the code as a previous seller who he brought from previously did it for him on his last sky glass 🫣

Re: Help please! Sold a sky glass

Sounds like he's trying to re-register it on your account to view content you are paying for, or at least re-add it to an active Sky account wether or not that account has an active subscription - to re-enable it as a 'Smart' TV, rather than its current 'dumb' state. Do not do it - it's not your problem anymore.

You used to be able to fully remove devices from within the MySky app, but Sky in their wisdom have removed that ability, and this now requires a call to Sky to action, but as you state you have already de-registered it, I wouldn't worry about it.

That's exactly what he's doing. He's being very awkward. He paid £150 for a 65 inch tv which he now claims is unusable as he won't find a solution to use it.

@David20202020 You've done what you needed to do. What happens now is up to him. He can either ring Sky to activate the Glass or he can display it ornamentally.

@Anonymous  unless he already has an account That's incorrect , he does have to take out the essentials package as a minimum for at least 31 days after which he's free to cancel

Re: Help please! Sold a sky glass

@SKY1992bf My apologies. I thought you could activate it to use without a Sky subscription i.e. just use the Freeview tuner, non Sky apps etc? My mistake.

Hi @David20202020 the following link explains what your new buyer should do in order to register a second hand Glass TV (and what you needed to do before selling it).
