Re: Great! TV channels

There isn't any interactivity on the BT Sports channels via Virgin stream, but for £8 a month in HD/UHD for all the channels that doesn't bother me too much. You can also watch all the BT sports channels via the Virgin Tv Go app if you are out of your home address

Sky Stream x 2
LG C2 OLED 55inch
Sonos Playbar
Virgin 1 Gig
Virgin Stream Box
Xbox X
Apple TV 4K
Amazon 4K Firestick Roku 4K Google Chromecast

Re: Great! TV channels

Be aware that all Virgin contracts have an  annual price hike baked in.  Customers will face bill increases of the February 2024 inflation figure plus 3.9 per cent. Unusually, Virgin Media will use the higher retail price index measure of inflation to set its new prices, not the lower consumer price index measure the other telcos use. Also, the increase is based on the full price of services taken not the discounted pricing they advertise. It's an in-built price escalator. My bill was going up 25%.
It's one of my main reasons for me leaving them after 25 years

@best+of+the+best how is suggesting that I work for virgin media constructive ? If you had bothered to read my post earlier in the thread. You would have seen that I gave a balanced opinion of both Sky and Virgin stream, which actually said if money is no object - that sky stream is the better option. Unfortunately we are in a financial crisis where people are using food banks, so I felt posting an alternative with cheaper pricing may help some - for me that's constructive - insulting another customer and suggesting that they work for virgin media isn't. The standards that are set to be a super user on this forum, seem to be based on how much you have posted to be levelled up. I have noticed that you in particular are spikey to other posters on a regular basis and make people feel uncomfortable. Regards

Fair comment @Jason+Golding seeing as one is available to all regardless of your BB provider and one is only available if you have Virgin BB

You get a free Virgin Stream with signing up to broad band but on the face of it if you go for the top broadband package £49.99 for 18 months the Virgin Stream without Sky Sports Sky Cinema BT Sports is just an expensive Freeview box at the end of the day.

The whole Virgin V Sky is rather meaningless if you are not in an area that is not cabled for Virgin.

Re: Great! TV channels

What Jadon said I agree with. I also have Virgin BB 1gbps and Stream. Their Stream box leaves Sky in the dust. Only reason I cam to Sky Stream was for more channels as VM don't currently match their Stream offering with channels on their DVB-C service via Tivo/360.

It was far cheaper for Sky entertainment channels and 30 day contract as standard. Stop subscribing and you still get Freeview channels and a bit more.

Sky Stream been nothing but problems since day 1 with please wait for the channel to load, sound muting. VMs box just worked.

If VM start offering the missing channels then I'm back to them as Sky incredibly expensive.

Re: Great! TV channels

Most films are split which hasn't worked well with channels like 5 Star

Yes I wondered about that, it is useless if it does not show the whole film, in fact I don't yet know if they will "record" in the planner at all like TCM movies will not.

No conclusive results yet, I put two films into the playlist, when I went to play them later one found the complete film in "Sky cinema" and the other in "Prime" (both available in UHD or  HD) so to watch them you would need the appropriate subscriptions. I don't think that anything on "Great" that is not available on anything else that Sky streams will work from the play list.

Re: Great! TV channels

I added the  9pm movie last night to my playlist. It recorded the first half but missed the second, which I expected.

I'm sure I read somewhere Sky are aware of this but probably on a long list of fixes to be completed.

That is the same as TCM movies, I complained and got this reply from Sky. If only the claims they made were correct.

From Sky's Web site

"Seen something you like but can’t watch right now? Not a problem. Just save it to Playlist. Then it’s ready and waiting for you later."

Sky's reply

"Some shows, including programmes from news and music channels (e.g. MTV Music), and some of our movie channels (e.g. TCM), aren’t available due to licensing restrictions or might be removed from your Playlist due to changes in licensing rights. "

Re: Great! TV channels

The way I read it, you need ad skipping to be able to watch from the start. I won't be paying for that when the free period ends.

Re: Great! TV channels

Hi, Is anyone able to check if the Great! (Movie) Player was added to the Players on Glass/Stream? As I'm on holiday and can't check myself,

The service was added to Freeview last week as a Red Button service available on the 'Great' range of channels. It allows you to watch any of there current range of films and shows without a break in the middle.

this i thought was a prelude to it being launched on Sky and being linked to the Playlist, so that any film added to the playlist would be directed to there Great! Player for watching in full.

Also have the Great Channel's been added to the search function for searching for a film or actor etc?

Hi @Freddieboy69 I hope you are having a great holiday.

I have checked for you and there is no Great! movie player in the apps rail.  Great! Romance, movies and action are all available to watch on channels 317, 318 and 319 respectively.  There is also Great!tv on channel 167.
