Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIt's annoying because the shows are shot in HD (eg brokenwood) and shown in other countries (and other streaming services) but are only available in SD on sky .......

@Jporch316 Virgin broadband is definitely worth getting, virgin stream for free is a bonus too. It's a nice back up if the sky stream box is failing and also a handy second box for those that don't wish to take out a multi home sub. The way that virgin provide on demand programming is also different from sky stream. They provide the normal link to the app (4, ITV X etc) but also have the programmes saved in their own servers. When the programme is watched from
their servers you can skip through the ads at no further charge - take note sky

the word on the street is that virgin stream boxes will be expanded to eventually replace the current v360 boxes which need to be physically connected to the router. This will of course mean that you'll be able to have more than one box, which is the current situation

ive heard some horror stories about delayed installs and price hikes though .....

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Jporch316 My install was easy once the had the new cables installed to the poles (FTTP) I checked their website, indicated service was available.
Order placed and lead time of 2 weeks. VM came to drop the cable from the pole to the box outside before the install date.
No issues with any price hikes yet 🙂

@Jporch316 The simple rule with VM is that for the vast majority of customers they receive a trouble free service, fast broadband and reliable tv. However, if you do have to contact their customer service, it's a nightmare. I have only had to speak to them a couple of times in two years.
price rises - they have changed their policy to replicate the formula used by BT and the majority of others. - RPI plus 3.9% - so actually their price increase now is more transparent than Sky.
Tip from me. - it's worth having an O2 sim. The volt benefits are really good - you get a free speed bump on the broadband plus you get the virgin Wi-Fi pods (plume) for free. The O2 account can belong to anyone in the household doesn't have to be you. Also worth looking at cash back sites such as Quidco and lastly as a virgin media customers you are entitled to O2 rewards

Looks like the pricing of virgin stream has been reduced further * all prices for 18 months.
Sky Sports HD all channels £16
BT Sports all channels and UHD £8
Sky Cinema £8
Entertainment Essentials in HD £8
Kids packs in HD £2.50
So you could as an example get the essential channels (sky max, gold etc) sky sports in HD, BT Sports in UHD, and Sky cinema for £40 a month.
