It's extremely frustrating and Sky are obviously doing something different with F1 compared to F2 & F3.

F1 clearly cloud records hence the recording message, something which VR said to me yesterday wasn't possible on Glass / Stream but the proof is right here for us all to see, it does work but only when Sky allow it.

Thanks,

Tim

It really is annoying that On Demand doesn't work in a timely manner - Formula E on Discovery + is available within a minute of the session ending constantly (and within 10 seconds on YouTube), BBC iPlayer shows are available within 15-30 minutes at most.

The overrunning shows being cut off is inexcusable - BBC and Granada had this working on Analogue TV back in the 1990s (VideoPlus & PDF) and on Freeview since the early 00s (Accurate Record) - Sky know when the end credits are played out (so they can start the following pre-recorded show at the very least) - surley they can trigger something based on this - heck they must do some sort of recording to make the repeats available to broadcast!

I'm not convinced the "Recording" is actually anything more than a UI element when a playlisted programme is being broadcast - I've also seen that on series of Air Crash Investigation which never come available - and according to Viewer R that's due to rights issues - why would you show something is recording when it's not?  A greyscale placeholder saying "Available Soon" for upto 30 minutes after broadcast rather than vanishing and maybe, maybe not, returning while some transcoding finishes off in the background would be a huge step forward.

The annoying thing is my only experience of Live TV via the Sky UI is Formula 1, Formula 2, and Air Crash Investigation and because those are so unreliable I don't bother looking at the TV guide for anything else now - don't wanna be disappointed when whatever I want to watch doesn't record (as it did plenty of times in the past).  Used Prime Video / iPlayer / Netflix for years so used to watching those On Demand.  Oh well, with Sky having the rights for F1 until 2029 I guess they've got 6 years to sort this out before I'll be looking elsewhere...

Not sure if this has been mentioned.  The f1 channel is now a UHD dedicated one

It's fine perfectly good point to make not sure if it's going make a big difference or not.

So I've got F1 practice 1 recording, not sure why this isn't possible with F3 or F2.

Obviously I don't want to watch F1 yet until I've seen F2, F3 as Sky's onscreen presenters have a habit of mentioning things that have happened which completely spoils it.

The "Watch Live" is the giveaway - I never had any problem with it showing it on demand while being broadcast, it's after the session ends that matters.

As it stands at 13:05 Formula 1 FP1 is showing available 🙂 , while F2 FP1 which finished 3 hours ago isn't 😞

@Kevjs Is it the UHD version taking such a long time?  If so, this tweet alludes to UHD encoding potentially taking a significant amount of time.

I've not got the HD add-on at the moment - my F1 FP1 session appeared within 2 minutes, while F2 was still missing at the start of F1 FP2...  Oddly the Button thing that was on straight after F2 Practice is available to watch....

F2 & F3 practice have finally just become available.

Really don't understand why F1 can be instant but others can't.

I do find myself wondering if the processing is prioritised by demand/popularity?

It's possible they are prioritising F1 but for those who do follow F2 & F3 it kinda ruins it all. I prefer to watch in order so that I avoid any spoilers which Croft and Co have previously done.

Despite my irritation at not being able to take advantage of the Sport F1 only offer I have, at the last minute, relented and signed up for the whole Sports package so I can watch F1.  It's on a rolling monthly contract so at least I can cancel as son as the F1 season is over.  Let's hope it is a great season.

@Tim+Adams  Obviously there's not been a live race in it yet, and it looks lovely and bright, but from what I've seen so far the picture quality isn't as good as last season; doesn't seem as sharp even on what appear to be the UHD replays.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the F1 UHD was spectacular last season, however it seems a little bitrate starved so far, even on my OLED with puck showing UHD.

Proof will be in the race broadcast.

Glad to be wrong as it looked beautiful  Even the replay tonight, particularly on my puck attached to my OLED.

Re: F1 2023

Anyone got their recordings in UHD? Mine have all recorded today and are available to playback (at least everything is there) but only in HD. Was hoping with the channel change to UHD, everything would cloud record in UHD.

Did you add to playlist from EPG TV Guide 406 UHD Channel

Picture settings have you tried switching default streaming format  from Auto to UHD
