A funny thing happened on the way to market..

Afternoon all..

Went to market this morning and the Sky stand was there at the mall and I thought I'd ask if they'd had any inside info on a possible successor to Sky Glass.

The advisor said they now sell 7th generation sets.

And this caught me off guard a little.

He cited improvements had been made to the current hardware and off he popped as he didn't seem interested in talking to me after that.

So is he talking balderdash or is he telling the truth?

It would offer a more clear route as to Sky's support for the current incarnation of Glass, albeit if improvements have been made under the hood to the hardware..

Thoughts?

I'd be inclined to think he is talking nonsense. Unfortunately these sales people tend to make thing up to get sales and up their commission.

If Sky were improving the hardware in the TVs specifically I'd have thought they would be singing and dancing about it "oh look at the new and improved TVs we have released".

I popped into Sky Store Cardiff two weeks ago, same old sets from day one release.

the sales team must be besides themselves with boredom going through the same ole thing these past couple of years

Nothing new to see here 😳

Clearly nonsense: even high end television manufacturers don't go through several generations in a year, and Glass has been out since late 2021.

As far as we know the sets are exactly the same hardware specification as at launch: there's certainly been no publicised upgrades in their manufacturing.

I guess it's possible the salesperson was referring to software, but that's rather a stretch too.

Edit: maybe a 7th manufacturing batch?

Thanks everyone.

Sorely tempted to return and tell him he's talking porky pies.

I knew he was exaggerating.
