Re: Subtitles
I've moved your post into a thread discussing the subtitle size.

If I thought that it would make a jot of difference I would do a side by side comparison of BBC and Sky subtitles.
its a stark difference - even when the juxtaposition of people on the sceeen isn't ideal for subtitles.

Here's a very sensitive topic being discussed by Dynamo, Steven Frayne, in conversation with Demi Lovato.
Prime placement of subtitles.
Far too high. surely that can't be denied but will Sky ever know and if they did, would they be bothered?

"No provider, BBC or otherwise, can factor in the two people being in a shot at the same time being completely different heights. "
Sorry @Daniel0210 , it was a belated response to your earlier comment (above)
Thanks

Re: Subtitles are far too large and intrusive. Friends and family are furious that subtitles can’t
You are correct - But the majority of streaming providers now allow a choice of font sizes and transparency settings which allow subtitles to be displayed with minimal impact on the viewing experience. Sky's subtitles are Teletext based and the font size and obscuring surrounding box block out too much of the displayed image.

@AN.Other Yup!
Sky are so behind the times and ignorant of the needs of anyone who rely on subtitles.

This ticket was raised 3 years ago. When it takes pride in its hi-tech aspirations, why is Sky still dragging its wooden leg 50 years behind the times with its lumpy and picture-stealing teletext subtitles, a system which came online in 1974? The broadcast channels, Netflix and YouTube all offer digital subtitles users can control. Teletext is an analog signal inserted into the video waveform.

You haven't quoted the post you're referring to - in what way has your screen been ruined?

Just a wild guess, but, could it be - "picture-stealing teletext subtitles, a system which came online in 1974?"
Totally agree, Sky need to bring their subtitle implementation in line with other streaming providers to give the viewer control over subtitle font, size, transparency etc. instead of large fixed size subtitles in a picture stealing oversize black box.

Re: Subtitles are far too large and intrusive. Friends and family are furious that subtitles can’t
The ridiculously outdated and intrusive subtitles are the reason we won't resubscribe to SKY when our BT contract ends. The BT setup is very clunky and less comfortable than SKY, so we want to return but won't as long as these stupid subtitles remain.
