Easy grip remote alternative

I have a 95 year old father who suffers with poor eye sight and crippling arthritis. So much so it's impossible for him to navigate through the Sky pages. I have obtained an Easy Grip Bluetooth remote which he uses only to select a channel using the larger numbered keys and the channel up or down button. Anything else and it's just too much for him.

However the Standard Sky Q Bluetooth remote has voice control which he can manage quite successfully and play programmes that I have recorded for him,  but the buttons are so small on this remote he can't see or feel the voice control button and ends up pressing the wrong buttons, this results in crashing out of Sky. Hence the easy grip. Question is, is there a simple alternative Easy Grip type remote that has voice control. Or can anyone suggest an alternative way to overcome this.

Hi there @Tony2159

Right now, we don't have an easy grip remote available with the voice control function. Can I ask, is it the slippery surface of the standard remote or the smaller button size that's the main issue, or both?

In other words, would the smaller remote be ok for voice control if he could grip it more easily?

In the meantime, as you mentioned he has poor eyesight, our new Voice Guidance feature may help him. Once enabled, it will read out loud the items in the menus and the TV Guide etc.

It may be on his box already, but if not, will be by the end of April.

@Tony2159

it might be worth seeing if you can hunt down one of the older remotes

Sky Q SKY135 Voice Control Remote

Sky Q Touch V2 Bluetooth Remote

These have the voice control button on the side of the remote well away from the other buttons.

Loads of places sell cheap silicon cases for Sky remotes that provide a bit more grip. You should be able to pick one up suitable for the older models.

Failing that you could  shape some rubber or foam and glue it to the back of the remote (making sure to do it in such a way that you can still open the battery compartment.
