Yahoo mail

My yahoo mail has 2 factor authentication but I don't receive the 6 digit code on my phone . I spent ages on the phone and was told Sky are no longer supporting Sky.com email and I would need to setup another account like gmail . Do Sky not realise how much grief this causes customers or do they care . I have been a Sky customer for 25 years but if I no longer have a Sky.com email address then I will probably change to another broadband provider as I'm so fed up with dky

@Robh112 welcome to this customer Community 🙂

I'm afraid you were wrongly advised. Sky do still support Sky Yahoo Mail. However, it does seem to be true that Sky Yahoo Mail is not well understood among front line advisers.

If you didn't make a note of your Recovery Code (which enables you to turn off 2 step login), Sky can turn it off on your behalf. It takes a few days.

I'd suggest calling again, and if you don't get anywhere, raising a formal complaint using the webform option here: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/how-to-make-a-complaint

Re: Yahoo mail

I have exactly the same problem. Keeps telling me it has sent the code to my phone but the code does not arrive. My main problem is that I do not have a Recovery Code as I did not set up two-stage verification in the first place as that is something that I do not want or need.

@hmsk212, @Robh112 Sky wouldn't know the mobile number to send Verification Codes to if you hadn't set up 2 step login yourself.

Re: Yahoo mail

I have had sky mobile for the past 10 years so of course they know my number, they also use that number when dealing with broadband issues.

@hmsk212 nope.

The mobile number in your Sky account details has nothing to do with 2 step login and  isn't used for the Verification Codes.

The only number used for 2 step login is the one you input during the 2 step login setup process. There's no doubt, therefore, that you set it up, albeit unwittingly perhaps.

Re: Yahoo mail

Sorry, but you are talking rubbish, I have NEVER initiated two step verification, it's not something you can do inadvertently. The number that they were trying to send the code to is my mobile which is the correct number. I have had this number for years its the one sky always uses whenever I have issues with my broadband, wif,i sky tv or mobile etc etc. The number is in my files just the same as my home address, post code, e-mail addresss etc etc. However, I have spoken to a sky rep today and he is blaming Yahoo for this problem. He then said he could send me a code, shall I send it to your number ending in ***, yes I said, that being my mobile but not the phone I was on the call with him at the time. Nevertheless it didn't come through. He stated that he would get the issued fixed within a couple of hours and get the two step verification turned off. This has already happened and I am now back and working without needing a code that I never wanted, had or needed in the first place

Re: Yahoo mail

I did a complaint with sky and they sent a number for me to call but the person I spoke to didn't exactly inspire confidence either

they have now resolved the issue which should never have happened to begin with

i never set up two factor authentication in the first place and fortunately I was able to access my email on my phone just not on my iPad but trying to explain this to someone whose first language isn't English is very difficult
