Re: Two Step Verification
Thanks, @jayach , that's a slight change on now it used to work, where you had to enter your mobile number afresh. Not sure where the number's now being pulled from.

Re: Two Step Verification
Thank you for your reply, Caesarome. If you sign in with your recovery code, it does not disable the two step verification. It simply allows you access your email. I should know; I just did it this afternoon. Nobody has yet provided a solution, which is a shame. I did not request the two step verification; my account was just updated and I was not notified. I would guess SKY have updated security and they are not providing an 'opt out' that actually works. If anyone has any solutions, please could you let me know. Thank you.

Re: Two Step Verification
@NicholasLBH Sky have deemed 2 step verification to be mandatory. There's no opt out.

Re: Two Step Verification
Hello All
I would just to to add, this problem of 'two step verification' is just affecting access on my trusted desktop.
Mobile phone access to Sky / Yahoo hasn't changed at all.
I wonder what is going on ????
Thanks.

Re: Two Step Verification
Hello Mark39
It certainly seems that way. Do you think we, the customers should have been informed before any changes took effect?
Also, when do you think SKY will update their website and operating guides ?
Thanks.

Re: Two Step Verification
Hi
like you all I have suffered SKY settings ignoring my settings including their own solution of how to turn off the 2 stage https://www.sky.com/help/sky-yahoo-mail/two-step-verif/articles/two-step-verification . It states verification is turned off - but when shut down and restart - it doesn't. If I use e-mclient - no request to 2 stage. On SKY's own help section I cleared the cache / cookies / history (Firefox) - to no avail. I phoned SKY and after the usual lie-through-my-teeth to evade the algorithm bot that tries to send a SMS solution I got a human. Rep 1 acknowledged the problem and tried to refer me to the actual department that actually deals with 2 stage verification. But SKY's internal phone-to-phone was down so could not getthrough to that department but promised to phone back in an hour. However no phone-back in the promised hour -so contacted again at hour 2 - hence why rep 2 and rep 3 then rep4. Rep 2 sympathised and referred me to rep 3 who made a huge fuss about the need for security requiring 2 stage verification e-mails always, but did refer me to rep 4 after I explained that I am the sole user on PC and e-mails used are not consequential . After reps 2 then 3 I was put through to rep4 - the actual department that deals with this issue of 2 stage. They (rep4) admitted the system is broke and should be repaired within a week from 26th May. Total worka round time was 10 days online then phone yesterday to get an answer. Previously the 2 stage verification was optional - now it is locked in despite turning it off. Annoyingly is also picks up recovery gmail account to let me know all this - an acocunt I don't use but is there. There is an email there saying 2 stage verification is in place -despite turning it off by link above. Recovery code doesn't work as there is no log in for as it always goes straighty - code-to-phone. What is worse SKY afre unaware that not all mobile phone services are pristine - our service can be a bit flaky so no guarantee of connection which is a hoot given limited time of code is live. Why do SKY etc presume? I know the pareto principle of the 80:20 rule - but if you are in the 20 - then it's tough sh**. If SKY was an online bank they would have no customers by now. So we will see if rep4 is telling the truth and SKY fixes the debacle. And 'no' I don't want to sign in for 30 days thank you - I don't want to sign in at all. Its called customer preference and the "customer is always right" or are they and just a cash cow for some code developer to fiddle with? If it ain't broke - don't fix it.

Re: Two Step Verification
I know - hence my 10 day frustration and pointing out the official SKY solution link and posting here. Whether SKY functions as an entity and its staff do actually know - who knows. Its a sad day when one has to ressort to the customer community to find the truth and answers with zero upfront communication from SKY who are happy to take the money with limited return. OK when things work - fine, we as customers don't complain. But when it goes wrong then its a fight with technology and algorithm bots. A recent issue i had was with SKY Q box (note that the SKY engineer who replaced the box openly stated that the negineers will not use streaming (Glass) but rely on the dish and box ) on the phone (landline) the rep said switch off the router. Guess what? We are all on VOIP so if you switch off the router to reboot the system and you are on a landline call (they know by the number displayed) guwss what happens next? 'Yes' the landline call is terminated and you lose the advice of the rep. Why use landline? a) local mobile signal can be flaky b) my Panasonic phone can be used to screen out spam by limiting access tos pecific numbers in a category and c) no SMS messages from scammers. OK my choice but sometimes older technology defeats malicious things.
cheers

Re: Two Step Verification
I feel your frustration. what Sky have done makes Sky email unusable for a (large?) minority of users, and have done so without updating their own help pages.

Re: Two Step Verification
Yes their help pages describe the 2 step verification as being 'not mandatory' yet offering no way of proceeding to email without setting it up.Tried the virtual assistant which, while agreeing that it wasn't mandatory, stated that the system 'seemed' to be prompting setup anyway. Wouldn't allow me to speak to anyone after that... beyond useless

Re: Two Step Verification
and there's more from alternative experience of why SKY customer service is sh**.
Today I contact Post Office Travel card [1] about my current one expiring. E-mail exchanges with pleasant reps made promises etc that did not transpire over 2 weeks. Telephoned today. With great ease viathe usual number button ladder got to a human who explained fully why there was a problem and solved it then and there. I was being too quick to renew before an expiry date - which was anautomated process. (My reason was I would be away when replacement card on expiry arrived). Rep instantly renewed and explained what to do next and happy for me to phone back. Totally different and opposite experience to that of SKY. And post office get slammed (OK Horizon was deadly serious malevolence)
[1] why post office card? On holiday we use beach sunbeds in Gran Canaria. After covid the hamaqueros who manage the beds only accept plastic now. Within 2 days of first post covid visit I got a phonecall scam havubg used my bank debir card. The PO card can be topped up with cash without a bank link - hence an air gap so no scammer can backtrack into a linked bank account as there is no link. The air gap protects my account and so the Post Office card essentially functions like cash. AFAIA only Post Office travel card and Eurochange have cardds that can be used as an air gap card topped up with cash rather than through a banking app. Card still functions through post office app, just cannot be back-hacked into my main bank account due to the air gap. Hence more protection of my main banking account.

Re: Two Step Verification
Thank you all for your comments.
I think it might be about time we received an official response from a SKY employee . And before you contradict me, I am fairly sure these community groups are closely monitored by SKY.
The story from one disabled SKY customer, who is now unable to access his email after 25 years with the Company, is very upsetting and concerning. And other customers, who do not possess mobile phones, have been left in a similar situation.
Please SKY, do the right thing and let us know what is going on.
Many thanks.

Re: Two Step Verification
well said
IIRC from the past and posts SKY employees do watch these discussions, unless of course SKY Management forbids it. In these dark days of control without responsibility nothing that is bad surprises me

Re: Two Step Verification
I didn't ask for it but was signed up, be ok with it but each time I have to go through the process twice with two codes, first one takes me back to password and then another code. The Sky security management doesn't have a turn off toggle but if you ask for a new code it sends you one which should cancel the verification and allow you to start agin but taking the "maybe " option still sends a code. I phoned Sky and was told that as it was Yahoo mail they were unable to disable this function and messaged me the Yahoo email phone number and gave me a code to use within the hour. I phoned but when ask for the code it wasn't regonised, bit of a shambles, still working on it anyone got any ideas ?
