It is up to you of course but it seems a bit drastic for an email issue because even if you cancelled your Sky services your Sky email account would remain. Why not use a different email provider who doesn't use 2FA like Gmail (Google).

Already use Gmail and Outlook for various reasons. My Skymail address is long established and I have no desire to have to change. I would suggest that Sky, as with other organisations, offer the alternative to a text message which would be a Whatsapp message. It's our preferred means of receiving calls and messages as the broadband connection is reasonable. (Therein lies another tale involving the absence of any FTTP connectivity)

Browser Firefox 153. I can put the SKY email icon on the TASKbar.

@Jayach’s suggestion I Have a Google messages for web tab adjacent to SKY tab. So when paired with phone I get the 2 step code adjacent to see and then enter. When I first did this - the remember me for 30 day - I ticked it. With the mail as a taskbar icon, the 30 day memory seems to hold, I don’t sign out, just ‘X’ off the tab at shutting down. Whereas when I signed out on standard tab, it was a daily re-enter. Maybe SKY have tweaked - I don’t know. But having shut the computer down at night I can get back into e-mails on starting up in the morning without re-entering code by using the icon on the taskbar rather than icon on the bookmark toolbar.

Maybe its tweaked software and improved but now seemingly stable this way.

Update

by placing the icon on the taskbar (reduce window size then drag to taskbar, or somethinglike that - can't quite recall) it functions as a separate stand alone "window" so not on the main window where Google message for web and all other bookmarks are on main window.

OK seems that the "trick" is not to actually sign out of the e-mail stand alone window but just 'X' off. I signed out last night to test it and shut the computer down. This morning I had to repeat 2 step verification  but the 30 day held.  Hence I do not sign out on the stand alone window but 'X' off and so hold the 30 day. Does this mean with computer off you could still be hacked? I guess so if SKY is hacked - in which case the liability rests with them - but that's a different debate. I can't say that this works for everyone but does for me - separation of icon to taskbar and 'X' off not sign out.

Glad you are finding Google Messages for web useful.

When you have it on the taskbar it is running as a PWA (progressive web app).

Another bonus is that you can use it to send texts without finding the phone.
