Agree, I have had my @Sky.com email for 30 + years and really like the short efficiency of it, so still fighting to keep if possible.

If you are referring to the 30 app password limit (and that is what this thread is about), it doesn't stop you using Sky email, it just limits your access from non-OAuth compliant apps.

Most modern apps should be compatible now, the only surprising exception is the Office version of Outlook, and considering all their other email apps will use OAuth, and it uses OAuth when connecting to Microsoft email, I just don't understand why that is.

Yes, I agree, @Sky.com emails can be accessed via yahoo, but I really would like to carry on using GMail, which needs the password

What Gmail are you refering to? On the web or app on Android or iPhone?

@jackieburne

How are you currently picking up your Sky emails In Gmail on the web?

Are you using Gmailify or collecting them from the POP server?

Re: Sky Yahoo password generator

I am not getting them, as cannot generate password as over the 30 limit

Sorry, I should have asked, how were you picking up your Sky emails In Gmail on the web?

Were you using Gmailify or collecting them from the POP server, or are you trying to set it up for the first time?

Using Gmailfy, I've been able to link one of my Sky addresses to Gmail, but you can only have one Gmailfy'd address so it wouldn't be a good solution if you are already using Gmailfy or have multiple Sky addresses.

Here's what it looks like:

(Mods, that's not a genuine Yahoo address, just something I made up to convince Gmail to use the Yahoo servers instead of the Sky ones)

Re: Sky Yahoo password generator

All of the above is helpful and sounds like we will have to adapt and just use the applications that can be signed in to. I have been using Outlook and cannot set up again as can't generate the password which is very frustrating and not sure why the 30 limit is applied. I may give Thunderbird a go again as I know you can sign in with oauth2 (original Sky password) on that application. I am currently signed in with New Outlook not sure if that will be a problem if I ever need to sign in again.

New Outlook (which is basically Outlook on the web, packaged as a stand-alone app) is able to use OAuth so you shouldn't have problems re-adding your Sky email again, should you need to.

But yes, give Thunderbird a try.😀

Re: Sky Yahoo password generator

I finally decided to contact Sky email technical today, and after spending 60 minutes on the phone it was finally accepted by them that once the 30 x limit is reached by the password generator thats the end of the line, there is nothing more that can be done. It cant be reset, none can be deleted to make space. Unfortunate as it means I cant use MS Outlook which requires the app generated password. Weirdly I can login using my usual password on the 'New' Outlook but that has annoying ads, which I was hoping to avoid. Really disappointing, and as mentioned previously will try Thunderbird again. Unless anyone knows how to login to Outlook using the usual Sky signin password.

Regards

That's expected as the 'new' Outlook app complies with current OAuth requirements. The Outlook client version doesn't which is why you have to use a generated password.

Re: Sky Yahoo password generator

Agree, but ive been using the New Outlook (happily) for about 4 weeks or so and never seen any adverts, however yesterday and today 'Ads' started appearing on top line, hence the call to Sky technical to try to sort the password generator problem.
