Same as everyone above, I recieved the email notifying closure of my email account on the 17th Dec. I login via the web everyday and often use an app too so no idea why they suggest it is inactive. Anyone have any new info??

Nothing more. You could either give Sky a call and see if they can shed any light on it, or wait and see if you're notified again that your account is about to be deleted. I believe you'll have an additional chance then to stop the process before Sky finally delete your account.

Re: Sky Email Account

I have now had 2 emails threatening to close my email account. I've had this for nearly 20 years so very anxious this will be the case... I have logged in via sky.com.
the email has come  from what appears to be a sky email ( I've not neen allowed to post the address)

the email hasn't asked for any click link etc. I've had mixed advise from sky when phoning and via X . All I need to know is if this is a scam if not who do I need to speak to for a definitive answer ? Like others I've logged in via a browser but still now had another email about closure.  Any suggestions sky before my account disappears and no one seems to be able to help?!

Do you always do this or have you done this since being sent this email from Sky ?

You mean that it's not a scam? Sky has given a heads-up to the Superusers that they would be sending out emails warning of the impending closure of email accounts which they've identified as inactive.

Re: Sky Email Account

No, thanks, I know how to do that. I have signed in several times for many years now.

But like other users I am receiving emails from Sky, from the email address sky at email dot contact dot sky saying that unless I log in to my account before 24th January I will lose access and I will have no ability to get to any emails and attachments after that date.

1) I've had the account for many years now, and I know I was one of the first to sign up for their service when it was launched. Back then it was all organised through Google.  My sky email address bears testimony to the fact that I've had it for years.

2) I log in several times a day and have done so for years. I use it constantly.

3) I have no idea why Sky would consider sending an email to an email address that they claim I haven't logged into for such a long period of time, telling me they planning to shut the email address down. That makes no logical sense at all.

4) A user on this frorum, @Mark39 has advise another user @DonAx that the emails are not a scam.  I've asked how @Mark39 knows that but haven't seen an explanation.

Just in case you - or anyone else for that matter can help - I normally log in through Yahoo's email page.  I have recently logged into Sky (email) via. the Sky website and selected the usual "email" just in case that's where Sky are picking up their records of activity from.  It doesn't seem to have made any difference.

I've got thousands of emails in my sky.com email account including stuff like insurance documents and so on.  I cannot afford to see it shut down so I need to take some sort of action to prevent that happening.

After hours looking for a point of contact at Sky I still have no idea how to do that. In fact, there isn't one, at least that is, as far as I can see.

As you didn't quote the post you were asking about nobody could be sure just what you were querying, however @Mark39 did answer you.

Re: Sky Email Account

@jayach

re: message dated and timed at ‎10 Jan 2025 08:45 PM from @Mark39

Thank you for your reply I'm completely lost now. This is all (mostly) new to me and if I've fallen foul of the etiquette of this forum I apologise.

With the greatest respect possible, the reply in the post I mention above was:  "You mean that it's not a scam? Sky has given a heads-up to the Superusers that they would be sending out emails warning of the impending closure of email accounts which they've identified as inactive."  and doesn't really help this clueless old fool.

I have no idea what or who a "Superuser" is and it takes me no further down the road to finding a solution as to how I stop my Sky email account - which truly is in constant use - from being deleted/deactivated on 24th January.

Also, no matter how many times I read the replies I still don't have a clue as to what is happening and worst of all, as I keep saying, what action to take to stop my Sky email account from being closed later this month.

I log into the account several times a day from different devices, from different browsers, from different operating systems though mostly Windows 11 (possibly 10 as well) and Android.  It's ridiculous to say that I don't log in.

During the conversation, on 10th January 2025 06:29pm, a @Mark39 replied to a user @DonAx saying  "It's not a scam" but with no explanation as to how he, @Mark 39, knows that.  If he does indeed know that's the case then it's more than fair to assume that he knows the answer, and any potential solution, but for whatever reason, can't, or won't pass it on.

I'm really new to this and I'm not aware of what's going on.  I assume that if that user knows "it's not a scam" they must have the information I need to ensure my Sky email account isn't switched off/closed down on 24th January.

Not only that but Sky email is hosted by Yahoo and I don't begin to see why Sky would be able to shut email accounts down when they don't manage them.  But that's just another confusion for me.  Probably to do with costs somewhere along the line (despite what I pay Sky each month) but then, I'm just a user, not a superuser so what would I know?

At the end of that rant, if you could tell me what the answer from @Mark39 means I'd be really, really very grateful.  Or it's off to something like Thunderbird to get it to preserve the thousands of emails I have in my Sky email account.

Re: Sky Email Account

Just contacted Sky as very concerned about this, Advisor :
    States its spam email
    Then stated change your password

    Then suggested contact Yahoo

I'm none the wiser and an awful lot more concerned, especially if I read above which states not spam

I log into my account via webpage daily to monitor spam email but Outlook daily to read and respond to emails.
Just tried sending an email from the sky webpage to demonstrate usage, not sure what resetting password will do

@AMH1 the adviser you spoke to was uninformed (not for the first time where Sky Yahoo Mail is concerned).

There's absolutely no point contacting Yahoo. They'll simply pass you back to Sky as they don't manage Sky Yahoo Mail.

See Sky's own help guide on this. The link is in my previous post.

Re: Sky Email Account

The link is of no use if you log onto your account daily via the webpage and still get the email to say account is being closed

what more can I do to stop my account being closed ??
