When I try on either outlook or Gmail apps I keep fetting authentication errors and it says too try again in an hour.

Can anyone help?

Try generating yourself a 16 digit password here and use this instead of your usual password with both of those apps:

Re: Problems setting up sky email on apps

Did you mange to resolve? I am getting exactly the same issue setting up my sky account on the Outlook app on my new Samsung S22 ultra phone. All worked perfectly with my Samsung Note 9 phone but this was set up prior to 2 stage authentication.  I have 2 stage authentication set up on Oulook on PC for my sky email account.

I know how to generate the password but when trying to register the sky account on the Outlook (Android) app it bombs out before I have chance to enter any password. I then have to wait 1 hour for another attempt but experience the same issues every time.

Sky are not using 2FA,

With Outlook on Android there is no need to use a generated password, just use your normal password when authenticating to Yahoo. Make sure Outlook selects the account as Yahoo.

Understood.l and thanksfor replying.  However when the Oulook app directs to the Yahoo log-on page, I can enter my username but then before I can enter ANY password it bombs out and states there was an authentication error. I then have to wait 1 hour. Still confused. Any further help gladly received

I was adding my email address to a couple of new email apps recently and I had the same. Tried again the next day and it all worked, I suspect the authentication server may have been down.

Try tomorrow.

Just tried using Mail app on Windows 10 and it authenticated O.K., so the server must be up.

Try using the Gmail app, that will need to be selected as other and use a generated password.

Re: Problems setting up sky email on apps

Good to know there's someone else in the same boat! I have the Yahoo App on my phone and that works fine with the Sky e-mail and NO  2 stage authentication.  Alos the Outlook App on my new Samsung S22 Ultra works great with my Hotmail Account (i.e. I have added and it is functioning) but as soon as I try to add the Yahoo/Sky account it bombs out before I even have chance to enter the password - and then states I have to wait 1 hour. So it can't be the Outlook App, surely there must be an issue with Outlook App & Yahoo server interoperablity.  Sky Community - any clues?

It's unlikely to be a Sky Yahoo Mail server issue, bearing in mind other apps and operating systems appear to be working normally.

Re: Problems setting up sky email on apps

I'm having the exact same problem.  My sky email address, which I have had for years, worked fine on Outlook on my Google Pixel 6 until 2 days ago.  Then, it told me I needed to sign in again.  I have the same problem of being bombed out before I'm able to even try any sort of password - then have to wait an hour grrrr.  I've tried deleting account, uninstalling and re-installiung Outlook.  NOTHING works.  I started a tech support conversation but get a reply about once every 12 hours.  Did anyone find the cause of this?  OR better still, a solution?

Re: Problems setting up sky email on apps

UPDATE - I spent HOURS on Sky tech support yesterday.  TBH, it feels like they didn't have a clue.  One guy said it was a universal problem and they'll let the world know when there is a bug fix.  Another said that because the @sky.com domain is no longer suported, authentication on any other app than the Yahoo Mail App has been withdrawn.  Are Sky serious about being an ISP???  How can an ISP NOT provide email??

Re: Problems setting up sky email on apps

See my posts below.  It seems Sky have decided they're not supporting any other app except the Yahoo app.  I have several email accounts for different work roles (self employed and contract in various places) and having all email accounts in a serious app like Outlook rather than noddy app Yahoo is essential for productivity.  Come on Sky - you can do better!

@Carl297 if you can't enter or change your password in the Outlook app it's an app issue and a matter for Microsoft support, not Sky.

Sky Yahoo Mail works fine with Outlook clients - I use Outlook 2019 - other apps like Thunderbird and via the website.
