Then there must be something on your device that is interfering with the browsers.

Did it ever work on the current device? If so when did it stop? Did you make any changes around then, such as new anti-virus or security software?

Yes it did work then it just stopped, all I have done is updated as and when required

Both Edge and Chrome share the same basic code (Chromium).

Could you try with Firefox?  Download Firefox for Desktop — Mozilla (UK)

It's just possible that won't be affected in the same way.

Still wondering what could be affecting both Edge and Chrome.

Yes very unusual especially when it worked on my old asus laptop, could it be anything to do with my new dell laptop ??

Not as such, but they may have some security type software that is affecting what code the two Chromium based browsers are running.

It definitely won't be a hardware fault.
