Have lost phone of which I can’t access the 2 factor authentication code

I have lost my mobile phone today,  and am unable to access my sky emails via the laptop due to the 2 factor authentication code going to my phone which is lost.....caught in a loop. I then called SKY to see if they can see an email from TESCO mobile quoting a security number, so that I can order a new phone but they aren't allowed to access my emails and redirected me to Yahoo. I've subsequently tried YAHOO and having no joy in trying to speak with their customer services......it seems I have to go through a different recovery code process which I tried but didn't work........any suggestions please

Yahoo can't help you with a Sky Yahoo Mail account, so don't waste your time trying to contact them.

 

If you kept a separate note of your Recovery Code as Sky recommended when you set up 2FA, then you can use it to turn it off.

 

If you didn't you'll need to speak to Sky again, abd ask them to turn off 2FA on your behalf. It may take a while.for them to do that.

Thanks for replying - I don't remember setting a recovery code when the 2FA went live with SKY, and I haven't jotted down one either. Will give them a call tomorrow to see if they can turn off without hassle/delay.

Then you will have to call Sky and when you do say nothing when asked anything by the bot and when you do get through to someone don't let them tell you that you have to go to Yahoo or that they can not help as they can't help but your issue will be getting through to someone who knows how to process this for you.

It's automatically presented to you on screen as part of the setup process, and then copied to your email address. Once you've sorted your phone out, you can set up 2FA again, if you wish.

Nice one @Joe_Thomas , as advised make sure you make a note of that recovery code somewhere safe.
