Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

Thanks Mark. So what do I do. I have called Sky and logged onto my email account directly via the sky website link, but I still get the message both to my sky email and linked Gmail. Yet nothing shows in the messages section for my account when I log in to my Sky account (not Yahoo email, my account, which I think is what the Sky Adviser checked).

I've been with Sky umpteen years now and have generally found them to be helpful. But on this occasion I feel very let down by them and their systems.

Am I safe to ignore this as I have logged in directly, but if I am why am I still getting the emails?

(Sorry somehow I have ended up with two community accounts, not sure how, both these Stephanie accounts are me 😊)

Thanks for your help in confirming not a scam.

@anthonyuk do the obvious - call Sky.

Dont you see that this is part of the problem?

People are phoning sky (myself included) and are being told completely different stories by them.

I rang them yesterday as i explained in an earlier post and was told the email never came from them and this needed to be investigated by sky.

After reading more on here and being "assured" by the likes of yourself i rang them again today and was told it was from yahoo and not from sky because sky have merged with them.

Stll no explanation as to why myself and others who use their email regularly got sent the email.

Reading through this forum you can see people are being told different versions of whats going on by different sky advisers, whilst you keep telling us you have access to sky who have told you something different again and all we need to do is log in.

People  are rightly concerned as to what is going on and whether or not they are going to lose access to their accounts or not and want clarification from the horses mouth so to speak.

Have you seen this:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/inactive-yahoo-mail-accounts

To stop your account closing, just sign into Sky Yahoo Mail. If you want to continue to keep your account active, you should sign into it at least once every six months.

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

I have seen it yes,but this does not address the issue at hand

The email being sent to people categorically states that our email accounts are closing soon and that they see we have not used the email account in a while.

So if sky are not seeing that we are actually using the account and that it is active, how do we know that magically all of a sudden logging in again is going to trigger something on their end that they suddenly realise that we do actually use the account?

Also the ironic thing is ,they are sending this email warning of closure to people that use their accounts on a regular basis, but if they claim its for those who dont log into their accounts, what is the point in sending them this email because if they dont use their accounts then they wouldnt see the email anyway.

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

I think most people here have seen the link to the sky help for inactive accounts. I think they have also tried logging in via the direct link from sky website. They have also contacted sky advisers. However, after all that, we are still getting the email saying our email accounts will be deleted in August. Does anyone have any advice that does not include the action we have already taken, ie :

   * contacting Sky Advisers

  * reading the sky inactive help pages

   * logging in via the provided link directly through sky Web page

I think we have established these do not solve the problem and we are still getting notifications to our sky emails, and linked Gmail accounts that our accounts will be deleted in August. This needs direct intervention from Sky themselves as it is ashocking to leave loyal customers who pay our bills and who have been with them many years unsure whether our email addresses which we rely upon in many spheres of our lives will still be accessible. This needs to be sorted unequivocally, urgently, clearly and in writing.

Pending possible email suspension

I have just had a notification by email saying that my email account will be suspended due to none use. .

I use this particular account many times a day and I suspect that I may have another account from the distant past when I joined Sky that I have never used.

The problem is Sky have not fully identified which account they have  targetted as not being used, they have only said .......@sky.com.

What to do, cant find any information anywhere in MySky details.

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

I've received this email to, I've been using my sky email for many many years and it's my primary email address. After seeing this thread I did log in via the sky email web page and now I'm hoping I've done enough. My sky email address is what I use with my hospitals, consultants and other important stuff so sky need to step in and investigate this, they need to give us an official responce as what is happening. Being disabled I can't suddenly lose my hospital/consultant emails without time to set up a new email address with them.

@modestmillionaire

What email address did they send this email address to, was it a sky.com one or an alternative one ?

I  think you are correct, and most of those posting here are also being told about an email account that they have forgotton/never knew existed.

There seem to be many more posts than last year when Sky went though a similar process, and I suspect it's because these accounts have been identified by Yahoo, rather than Sky.

This recent thread seems to confirm it.

So because 1 person on that single thread says that it is an old account they think they have been notified about that they have not used in years, you ignore all the posts in here that are telling you that it is happenng to them with accounts that they use all the time?

I would beg to differ along with a lot of other concerned users by the looks of it.

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

@jayach It was sent to my @sky.com email address. It appears that this has caused a lot of unnecessary confusion for a lot of users who use their accounts regularly if not daily - who have read the article and logged in via sky themselves and not via 3rd party apps.

last time this occured  I phoned 3 times and got a different answer each time.. it really needs to be escalated to sky and for them to take accountability . They must know who they emailed and why... the emails surely just can't be random?

I'm not disputing that there are a lot of users who have recieved the email, and don't think they should have.

I've 4 Sky email addresses, and none have recieved a deletion email, so I don't know what has singled you and the others out.

I only pointed that thread out as it shows it is possible to have an email address that you don't know about  that may have triggered the deletion email.

The biggest problem I can see is the email doesn't specify exactly what Sky email address they are refering to.

We just have to believe Sky when they say if the email account has been signed into recently, it won't be deleted.
