Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

Got an email today from Sky Broadband Team saying my account is inactive and set to be deleted.  This is not correct as both my email accounts are used several times per day.  How do I them deleting an account that they incorrectly seem to think I'm not using ?

Hi Everyone

Thank you for your posts regarding the recent notifications around inactive email accounts ending in @sky.com. We're sorry about any inconvenience this may have caused.

We are currently investigating why some notifications may have been sent incorrectly; and will come back with a further update on this.

You can find out which mailbox the message is for by following these steps:
  1.   Sign into the website. If you do not know which @sky.com email address we are referring to, sign into Sky.com using the email address the notification was sent to.
  2. Click your name on the top right, the menu will appear.
  3. Your Sky iD will be displayed, which is the first part of the sky email address.
  4. If you'd like to keep this email account, click on Yahoo Mail from the menu.
  5. You will be redirected to the mail account and don't need to take any further action
You can find more information about the process here:

I'm going to mark this post as the current answer, so that everyone has the most up-to-date information.

@vulcan777 @BradleyP17  Does this email address you by name or as Dear customer?   Is the email asking you to follow a link?  If so that is a scam.

If not it's likely to be genuine but only of the email addresses you by name and asks youto login but not via a link within the email.

Are you logging into your sky email via a web browser?  https://www.sky.com/signin/email

It's legit.  I did all scam checks first.   It's addressed correctly and asks only that I login in to my account normally, no link to follow in the email.

You might have been sent this if you haven't logged into your email account here for a while:

So as long as you do this on a reagular basis then going forward you should have no issues.

I logged in via sky email on the link only last week so why get the email today.  I regularly log in on web and through phone

This issue was raised previously here:

https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Email/Sky-Email-Account/td-p/4855304/page/6

Sky really needs to get its act together as it is sending out emails that clearly confuse its customers, me included. I have several Sky email accounts. The email I received was sent to the gmail recovery account that I use, and did not state which Sky email account it referred to.

I guess that if you haven't set up a recovery email account, then Sky just sends the email to the account it says it will close. Either way, Sky has not learned from the confusion it created when it sent out this emails last year.

Do better!

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

i received that email too.. and similarly cannot find an actual human to talk to about it.

i can only think that i access the sky yahoo email through a yahoo web address/browser, and somehow sky therefore think i am not using the email - which is ridiculous as it is a heavily used email address.

anyway, all I have done is logged into sky.com and then found the email via their own site (not very easy), and logged into the email from there.  i am hoping that does the trick.

That's all Sky are asking you to do, prevent your email account being deleted. There's a direct link to the online login page in @caesarome's post, repeated below: https://www.sky.com/signin/email
