Re: Deleting email accounts

Rubbish.  I've just logged into an account which I haven't used for 4 years.  Still active 🤬

Re: Deleting email accounts

I am going to try getting it deleted under GDPR right to access/removal of personal data. I'll let you all know how it goes

Re: Deleting email accounts

I have been trying to get my sky.com email address deleted for about 13 years!!! When I cancelled my contract with them all those years ago they told me my email account would be deactivated within 6 months. I've tried leaving it for over a year and ended up having to delete thousands of emails!!!

Why? Just ignore the account. Don't log in..

Re: Deleting email accounts

Because it's a security risk, not in line with what is stated in their terms and conditions and the emails take up unnecessary space in my iCloud.

@Kaz59 have you contacted Sky specifically to request the closure of your account (as opposed to waiting for it to close through inactivity)?

If the emails are in your iCloud you must have specifically set it up to do so.. They are normally only stored on Yahoo's servers,, if you don't look for them you will never know they are there.

Re: Deleting email accounts

Yep, same here.  Moved abroad many years ago and found I could no longer access emails except when I returned to the UK.  Meanwhile, the account received hundreds of spam mails and it appeared that somebody was giving that email address to all and sundry - whether by design or mistake I have no clue. I see it as a security risk.

Well it could be anyone you've given your email address to, or any email you've replied to. The vast majority of spam arises from user activity, either on the Web or via email.

Re: Deleting email accounts

I think it was a result of several data breaches.

No data breaches via Sky Yahoo Mail for many years
