Being asked for password

I've had a sky email account for over 24 years. I'm using my iPhone and I get asked for the password (not during set up) and when I try to add it through settings I get a message saying it's incorrect. If I go through the Yahoo web page, I can get to my email using the same password. Any ideas?

Something to try is to generate yourself a 16 digit password here to see if it is then accepted:

Forgive me, but I'm not an iPhone user, just when are you asked for a password, and why not give it at that point instead of going into settings?

@sarah2308 there's a known, intermittent fault with Apple devices which prevents users logging in. I haven't another post reporting it for a while, so I assumed it had been fixed via an Apple update, but perhaps not. You may be able to log in ok in a day or so, but might want to consider any way of gaining access to your email, via your browser and the Sky website (the link I posted earlier) or via the Yahoo app.

Yes. I've had it before but if I deleted my Mail account and set it up again it wouldn't be a problem anymore. That didn't happen this time. I'll give it a day or 2 and try again and update this discussion. Thanks all for your suggestions so far.
