Alternative domain email addresses

I have had one domain with two email address for some time.  Both were being transferred to Sky until Yahoo took over.  Only one of them now comes down from Yahoo, and I do not know how to allow the other one to come down as well? What must I enter in Yahoo for this 'new' email address.  And more particularly, how can I send emails through Yahoo from these domain addresses?

Do both email addresses have @ Sky.com domain names?

Re: Alternative domain email addresses

No, they were purchased from a third party, and were first being transferred to an earlier service provider , then to Sky when i changed about 10years ago, and now hopefully, through Yahoo.sky is still the service provider.

Thanks, Jacksonsbank

I'm a bit lost here. How did they come to be transferred to Sky? When Sky changed administration of their email service from Gmail to Yahoo, there was no change of domain name - it has always been sky.com to my knowledge (certainly it has in relation to my Sky Yahoo Mail account)

Addresses with a yahoo.com domain are nothing to do with Sky.

@Jacksonsbank

Are you saying that even though you have your own domain that you are using the Sky server settings to access your emails because like @Mark39 I am struggling to see where Sky fits into this.

If you have email addresses with your own domain, then neither Sky or Yahoo have anything to do with it.

It seems a bit strange you are asking this now, as Sky started to use Yahoo in 2013. What have you been doing with the second address since then?

The only problem with having your own domain addresses it that they often don't come with an SMTP (sending) service, and you are expected to use your ISP's SMTP server, but due to problems with SPAM most ISP's no longer allow sending from 3rd party address via their servers.

Could you explain a little better just what your problem is?

Domain email addresses

I have had two email addresses , both utilising the same domain which was transferred to Sky (my current service provider) some time ago.  They allowed me to send and receive emails through these two domain email addresses (for which I am paying the domaina subscription. Now that Sky has handed all over to Yahoo and Yahoo continues to supply me with my Sky email addresses, and ONE of the two domain addresses.  But I remain unable to receive emails on the other domain email address, or send through Yahoo from either of these two domain addresses

This means that I am unable to conduct business through these two domain emali addresses, as I could through Sky - because I cannot reply from these addresses.
If this is an unchangeable Yahoo policy which has been presented to me as a fait accompli by Sky’s changeover to Yahoo, please what I should do to change my email service provider - or indeed change from Sky?  If a domain email has been cancelled through non-use for six months, and with no known notification of Notice to me, what should I please do?

@Jacksonsbank .

Yahoo took over the running of Sky email back in 2013 apparently so what has happened here can not be related to the changeover.

When you try to reply to an email on the domain what is happening, what does the error message say if you see one ?

@Jacksonsbank to ,preserve continuity, I've added your thread to the one you started a few days ago. No need for a separate thread.

@Jacksonsbank  From my own experience of using Own Domain emails Sky won't have transferred any admin or access to your original domain linked email accounts, therefore your original domain host should still give you access to your domain email accounts either online or via pop/imap settings.

As an example if you domain is superme(dot)com your email address user @ superme (dot) com  will still be active through the host you bought your domain with.

Sky can't & won't have deleted a domain email account as they would not have access to your domain account in the 1st place.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

You have still not given us enough information for us to be able to make suggestions.

Unless you have had this problem since 2013, it has nothing to do with the change to Yahoo as the email provider (from Gmail).

If you are unable to receive email from your domain emails, you need to speak to your provider.

If you are unable to send from your domain emails, we need to know whether you have an SMTP service with the supplier or not.

If you have a Sky email address, it is possible to use the Sky SMTP server, but it will need to be setup correctly. However if you are using your domain emails for business use, I would serious suggest getting your own SMTP service.

Re: Domain email addresses

I was using the sky server and all was well. The problem has only been after Sky witched to using Yahoo. I am not a big user, but I do want to be able to reply to my domain emails, which do now seem to be coming down to Sky/Yahoo, from the domain address.  Do you know how I can set reply domain addresses

up?  Sky used to enable me to see alternative (domain) email addresses that were set up, but this is no longer the case with Yahoo. SMTP does seem to be the problem with setting it up. How do I go about obtaining an SMTP supplier?

Many thanks,

Jacksonsbank

@Jacksonsbank  You need to login to your domains provider, they may have SMTP setup already on your (normally basic) email package.  most Domain providers offer this.

You keep saying this, but unless your problem started in 2013, it has nothing to do with the switch to Yahoo, so when did it start?

As the previous replies say, have you checked if you have access to an SMTP server with your domain?

How are you seeing your domain emails in Sky? Did you use the Yahoo app to add them?

If you want to use the Sky|Yahoo SMTP server to send your domain emails, and they are not already set up in Sky, they will need to be added as "Send-only" addresses.

You would do that at Settings - More Settings - Mailboxes. Here you can see I have 3 set up:

If you want more explicit instructions you will need to explain better how you are recieving your emails currently. (app, browser etc)
