There is (AFAIK) no way to reset the counter on the generated password limit.

At one time you could rescind/revoke old generated passwords, but Sky removed that option as they said it was a security risk.

The old generated passwords do not seem to expire/run out, so if you made a note of one in the past, it should still work.

I have not heard that it says it needs resetting, previously people have just said that it says they have reached the maximum.

Could you show us just what the message says, as if it says it needs resetting, presumably they believe that is possible.

@breeze1470 so far as I'm aware, it's not something an email user can reset. You would need to speak to Sky.

@breeze1470

Another thought. If you have other devices using generated passwords, that are still working, you could possibly get the password from them and use it on whatever you are currently trying to set up.

What is it that you are trying to use? there arn't that many apps that still need a generated password. Classic Outlook being the main one.

New Outlook doesn't require a generated password, it uses web techniques for authenticaion. What happens when you try to install it?

Wow, Sunflower, that's a new one on me, i'm going to have to do some research.🤔

As long as it is loading all the emails you see when logging onto the webpage https://sky.comsigninn/email/, I can't see that a generated password will make any difference. New Outlook is not a conventional email client, it is a PWA (progressive web app) so that may be why is doesn't work with Sunflower.

Having done some research, Sunflower isn't OAuth (yet) so it will need a generated password.

If you haven't made any record of  the 30 generated password you have made so far (I now record any I generate in a text file, just in case) and you can't get the one used on the iMac, then Sky will be your only way of getting the list reset.

The agents on the first line at Sky know little to nothing about the email (unless you strike very lucky) so you need to get them to refer you up the chain to see if resetting the list is possible.

Good luck, I think you will need it.😥
