wifi extender fail
about 5 weeks ago, I upgraded to the gigafast broadband. the connection to the max hub is great, it get's the full 900mbps and usually a bit more. My PC sadly is the opposite end of the house and the wifi signal is dreadful (struggle to get 60-70mbps). I have a seagate wifi extender which managed to get around 300-400mbps on the 5GHz band (not the speeds I wish I had, but good enough for my needs) & around 150mbps on the 2.4GHz band.
over the weekend the extender suddenly failed to find the 5GHz band. After rebooting the hub a few times and checking the speed to the hub itself, I resorted to resetting the extender with no joy. while I can still technically connect to the 2.4GHz band, I'm now struggling to get 60mbps (about the same as connecting to the hub without the extender) & the 5GHz fails to connect at all.
I bought a new extender (tp-link with wi-fi6) and again, it fails to connect to the 5GHz band and when connected to the 2.4GHz band, even with the extender right next to the hub and my phone close to both, I'm still topping out at 150mbps (my PC again struggles to reach 60mbps).
did something change with how the max hub works over the weekend? or is there a simple setting I'm failing to see?

@paulineelephant With a device that is connecting on the 5Ghz frequency you may just need to see where the Auto Channel has thrown it too, The sky Max seems to want to be up as high as it can go so unfortunatly if the connecting device cannot work up that range, connection is not going to be possible!
You really need to say which Tp-Link extender you got, and you may just have to go check the Tp-Link web site incase it needs a FW update!
