Hello people
I am trying to sign up for broadband only on sky's website, but it only gives the option of me having to provide an old providers name and account details, I can't give a previous providers details as i never had a previous provider of broadband. The webpage checks when i enter "none", tries checking the provider name and then fails with an error.
Seriously this can't be a glaringly obvious mistake/flaw in how the website operates.

@221 You'll need to call Sky to place an order for a New Line, your brother can cancel the old service with EE in the meantime.
Otherwise the default is OTS which will have the issue of being cancelled.

Re: website won't proceed without giving provider name
@221 There should be an option to select New Line rather than switching?

Re: website won't proceed without giving provider name
I should add that i have never had broadband at this address but another family member has and the contract they have with them was for 24 months, which is coming to and end this month. So i now want sky to provide the broadband service, hence the one touch option is not applicable to me.

Re: website won't proceed without giving provider name
@221 That will complicate things if they are with Sky at the address your trying to sign up at as Sky only allow 1 account at the address.
Are they moving out? Or are you trying to gain a new customer deal under a different name at the same address as an existing Sky broadband account?

Re: website won't proceed without giving provider name
None that i can spot mention new line
Here are the only options under the heading of "your broadband and landline"
1-I have broadband and landline services
2-i have broadband only
3- i have landline only
If i select option 3, it will still ask me for my old service provder, and if i manually enter "none", it will try and check and fail with an error
If i select option 2, it will still ask me for my old service provider, and if i manually enter "none", it will try and check and fail with an error

Re: website won't proceed without giving provider name
@221 And the other questions posted? If there is already a live account at that address it may be a cause of the issue your having.

Re: website won't proceed without giving provider name
This is a brother who was with bt, now under the name of EE for 24 months, as of june 16th, and will no longer be at the address, otherwise they could have just used the one touch to switch to sky.

Re: website won't proceed without giving provider name
@221 you can only order a new service after your brother has given notice the reason you are getting the issue is the checker sees there is a service on that line you can only place an order if that service is in your name when it become a switch. You can never place an order which would disconnect another user.
