sky max hub red light, LAN no light

Hi ive mived to a new build property installed the sky max router. waited for activation date and only Red light is showing.

on the open reach box PON and power have a green light but LAN has no light at all.

ive phoned 3 times first time i was told it was a faulty ethernet, tried multiple still no change.

I then phoned a 2nd time and was told it would be investigated, the result of that was i text from sky say " hi its sky, weve investigated your issue and it seems the problem is inside your home, please visit www.sky.com/help.

i know its in my home that text isnt very useful, so ive phoned a third time and apparently its being investigated again. my sky was activated on the 6th and still not had use out of it.

how else can i fix this.

@leon-brown if you have tried different Ethernet cables from the ONT to the hub and still no connection it sounds like a faulty ONT which Openreach need to replace. Personally I would call Sky and talk to them as these messages can get confused.

@leon-brown ONT Lan light will go on as soon as you connect the cable port 4 WAN on the sky Hub to the ONT!

@leon-brown Have you powered off the ONT and back on again, if you have a laptop with an Ethernet port would be good to put it on the end off the cable that is connected to your sky Hub and see if the LAN lights up on your ONT!

@leon-brown

Reading your posts I would say its very likely to be a faulty port on either the ONT or your Sky hub. Does the light come on if you plug the cable into any of the other ethernet ports on your Sky hub?

Re: sky max hub red light, LAN no light

@leon-brown So you have tried multiple cables, multiple devices and never got anything to work at all, only thing that is not clear in the post is different cables used?

Re: sky max hub red light, LAN no light

@leon-brown This is what i would do, disconnect the Ethernet cable completely from the ONT and the sky Hub. switch both the ONT and the hub off, leave a couple minutes, hub back on leave it 5 minutes to power up and display ready to connect with light on the sky Max, plug a cable into Port 1 on the Hub and attach the other end to your laptop Ethernet port, not sure if your sky Max hub has lights on the nic port, if it does, then LHS will go green, and RHS will flash when data is sent back/forth.

Use a web page and connect to the hub with http:// 192.168.0.1 take out the space between the / 1, does not allow string to be posted correctly and changes the http to https.... You should be able to check out all the ports on the sky Max hub this way!
