I just got a new browser bot that uses voice recognition but its saying that i dont have any microphones that it can use. I know my tv that i use as a monitor has voice recognition. I must just have to make it available somehow. Ive looked in my network preference pane for sound inputs and theres nothing listed. I have speech recognition on my tv/monitor, i even have an amazon echo sat next to me. I have a sky router with a netgear daisy chained onto it. I looked on my network preference pain. No inputs listed in the sound preferences but my tv is listed in the outputs. Strange. I also have an ipad with a mic which i always have in front of me (disabled). All my devices are listed on my netgear admin page so i need to know how i can make a mic available to my bot?

Find out more@Alioop222 just because a device has a microphone does not mean it can be configured output to a third party bot..To your network output from a mic is just data so that is irrelevant what you would need to do is to programme the TV/Alexa/what ever to output raw mic data and that is going to be difficult if not impossible.
Microphones are in general very carefully controlled as people do not want third parties being able to listen in to their private conservations without their informed consent and are subject to strict data protection control. Therefore system designers will limit the ability for any use of microphones or cameras to their the designed purpose. I am sure you only want too use this bot for strictly proper use but you can see thst opening systems leaves it possible for example for people to spy on their partner.
The only way to achieve what you want would be to hack your devices to break their security protection which clearly cannot be discussed on this forum. However you can buy security equipment designed to monitor your home but whether these will talk to your bot will depend on their design and programming.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIt means there is no microphone connected to your PC. You need connect a headset or standalone mic. Monitors/TVs do not have built in microphones. Smart TVs that have voice recongition use the TV remote as a mic not the TV itself.
