iPhone stops working on WiFi
I have sky 2.5ghz broadband and 3 pods one hardwired in. Basic my iPhone and my sons iPhone stop connecting to WiFi. I have to delete the WiFi and then reconnect with the password. Then all of sudden it stops again. I have rebooted everything and it locks at different intervals.
any ideas.
laptop is fine as well as iPads. All Apple products
tv fine and sky q.
I think one of the pods may be the issue but they are all connected
its annoying as I have to copy password and reload WiFi

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
@Martin32 When you say the pod is hardwired, hope you do not mean the Ethernet off the pod is connected back to a sky Hub Ethernet port? Your pods are they all the sky Max pod type?

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
Yes one of the pods is hardwired as recommended by sky engineer. As it's so far from other pods and main hub.

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
The other 2 pods are wireless and connected fine to main hub. All equipment works fine just mine and my sons phone get kicked out from time to time and we have too forget network and rejoin. It's weird. Phone can see the router as has strong signal but won't connect until you forget and rejoin

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
@Martin32 Did not think that the sky Pods supported a wired backhaul at all if it did then that pod would run at full speed no matter what due to the Ethernet cable connection direct back to the sky Max Hub! Do you also have the new sky Gigafast + Round wifi7 Hub in use?

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
@Martin32 Have you tried droping the sky Max hub back to WPA2-PSK mode on the advanced settings for the wireless wifi network?

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
@Martin32 When you lose the connection this is what i would try to pin it down, go to that furthest away sky pod, as far away as you can from it and the sky Max wifi7 hub, and with the iPhone switched off, once in the position power the phone on and see if it establishes a wifi connection to the pod, and if so does it also see the internet at that time!
As your mesh is unknown and how it works or how stable it is that is the factor to consider! At that pod because you have it wired by Ethernet all the way back to the sky Hub, then you should get a strong wirless wifi signal and at least a Gigabyte Ethernet port speed if the true backhaul is working!

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
@Martin32 It could be, but let me run this by you, Samsung A54 mine, and only mine, normal sync speed 1200Mb/s to the Router, only have a FF500 connection so speed test is 500/70Mb/s, that phone would do just this, 17/70Mb/s and when it did would NEVER recover until the wireless wifi on the mobile was switched off 10 seconds back on and instant up to full speed again.....
Outcome and fix, installed another AP to bolster the wireless wifi signal, would swear blind not an issue as the signal looked fine and strong enough, guess what has not once done it again ever since then been 6 months now with zero issues on it at all!

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
With that pod before I run the Ethernet cable he turned the speed down to 2.5ghz the other pods are at 5ghz. I just wonder if that is causing an issue. He said he was an expert and goes to the difficult c calls other engineers can't fix. So think I will get him back out. I was trying to see if I could log into the pod and change it.
I will try what you said and report back. Thanks for your help

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
When you say another. AP. Acces point. Another pod?
We have very thick walls in the house
think when I lose connection next time I'm going to switch the hardwire pod off and see if that resolves it

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
@Martin32 Trust me he is no expert doing something like that! Would be asking him a real serious why do you think that is the way to go!
The sky Max has such or should a say has NO mesh tools to see what is going on....
Don't us a single piece off sky hardware, no sky App, and would not entertain the restrictions that they put on the system, but that's me been doing it for a far too long time!
You should be able to speed test and note the values at each off the pod locations, i have three Ai Mesh two Ap's and one full blown Router connected to the Main router and can push easily 2.2Gb/s on the Internal network if i wish!

Re: iPhone stops working on WiFi
@Martin32 Here is my understanding of the sky Max pod, it is a wif5 device dual band operation so 2.4/5Ghz with a hidden 5Ghz wireless high speed backhaul.... They do not support wired Ethernet backhaul at all, so unless i am mistaken going to stick with that until someone say's different....
My Network is tri band one is dedicated high speed backhaul on the wireless wifi only, two off the units are wired backhaul ie Ethernet cable goes direct back to the Main Router, although it's 1Gb/s wired will always beat the pants of wireless although they can at times get real close to each other.....
Mesh is NOT easy to do it takes time and some care to get the absolute best out if it and then 80% off the time it's great, even when my mesh effectivly pod hops, ie AP connects to AP as it's routing i dont even see any slow down and that has happened a couple off times, due to the good lady unplugging a router as she just does not understand, but takes me 10 mins to re-sequence it all again!
