I Want My Money Back

Your unreliable internet just got two of my classic world of Warcraft characters killed, because of this I want my money back for this months internet.

I was making roast dinner and it was the final hour for the chicken so I thought I'd get that quest in stranglethorn vale done quickly while it's cooking.

I had 3 world buffs at the time on both characters as well.

I start it and guess what? Your internet disconnects.

You've had all day, literally ALL DAY to **bleep** me around like this. ALL DAY!

Instead you do it right as I start something after Iv'e collected all 3 world buffs and with limited time.

I literally pulled the first thing when it stopped and the lights on the router went out, I log back in once the lights return to find both characters at the graveyard.

I open up the customer support panel to request a resurrect from a GM since I refuse to use spirit red for something YOU'VE DONE and guess what?

It disconnects AGAIN! Lights out on the router AGAIN!

Keyboard, mouse and phone get thrown across the room at this point, and the router gets punched off the desk.

It resets again and comes back fine now. But guess what, I've got to prep dinner due to limited time, so I can't back in to sort the issue.

The other half doesn't wanna eat with me when I'm "like this" so I'm eating alone now, all because of you.

So... When can I expect a refund on this months bill?

@Entropic You can not and will not get any refund for the scenario that you have said, does not work like that and it never will!

You are only talking to other customers here so you have zero chance of getting money back due to an issue with this game.

@Entropic  And any damage you cause to any Sky supplied equipment because you lose your temper will be chargeable.

You won't get refunded a month service for sporadic outages, that's not how it works.

And to be honest No ISP can be held liable for characters being killed due to any broadband faults that's not how the real world works.

@Entropic

Your Broadband has to be fully down for more than 2 working days before auto compensation kicks in. Your claims for a refund are unrealistic.

This link explains the Ofcom agreed auto compensation scheme which Sky operates for when there is a TOTAL loss of Sky Broadband or Sky Talk for UK customers.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/auto-compensation

If you have a total loss of service and it isn’t fixed after two full WORKING days from when Sky are notified of the fault, you will become eligible for it.

This auto compensation is applied 30 days after the fault has been repaired and will come in the form of a credit appearing on your Sky account (from 01/04/25 the new rates are £9.98 per day)

▫️There is no equivalent scheme in place for customers in the Republic of Ireland.
▫️There is no automatic compensation for TV services affected by a broadband problem.
▫️Sky broadband being discussed here is a domestic service therefore whilst it's fine for customers who work from home to use it for that purpose they won't receive additional or quicker support.

Your joking right? I mean you really have to  be joking.

Keyboard, mouse and phone get thrown across the room at this point, and the router gets punched off the desk.

Maybe seek professional help for the anger issues, its just a video game(and i say this as fairly avid a gamer).

The other half doesn't wanna eat with me when I'm "like this" so I'm eating alone now, all because of you.

That is not Sky's fault, its entirely your fault for not being able to control yourself, you are responsible for your own actions.

So... When can I expect a refund on this months bill?

Never, its entirely ridiculous to expect a refund based on what you've posted.

Re: I Want My Money Back

I decide how the world I live in works pal, I can cancel it on my end and keep everything if I choose to. I don't want that though.

im not sure why the AI thing has pointed me here to be fair, I was expecting to talk to someone directly.

its not that it disconnected, its that it did it at the most breathtakingly inconvenient moment possible, so now I'm being a pain about it.

Thats how the world works.

@Entropic

So you've been advised about the standard fix times if you've reported a fault to Sky,

You've been advised about auto compensation should it be a FULL loss of service.

You've been advised that any damage to Skys property will be chargeable.

You've been advised you won't be refunded for loss of lives on a game.

I think we've covered all the points you raised.

Entropic" describes something related to entropy, the scientific principle of increasing disorder, randomness, and energy dispersal in systems, meaning things naturally move from order to chaos.

@Entropic welcome to the real world the tendancy for faults to happen at the worst moment is a reality summarised in Sod’s Law  Unfortunstely raging about it is totally pointless nobody is to blame for an issue like a line drop happening while your activity is not saved its life. Personally I would query the prigramming of the game not allowing you to go back as connection drops are inevitable reality. However ine thing is crystal clear Sky owe you no more than a sorry at most.  Read your contract
