After using the sky`s internet 'Service Checker' tool to see if my internet speed is correct (the check took around 2 minutes), it informed me that I require an engineer booking - is the engineer visit free of charge (I would expect it to be, because any internet slowness is Sky`s fault, not mine)?

For standard Monday to Friday visits, yes.
