dhcp lease invalid - wan link down

This started to happen like a week ago - spoke to sky on the phone, who sent me a new router - problem - got 1 disconnect since - went good for like 60 hours, then the following started to happen again:

 

internet drops every few minutes

@SheldonC  Can you please run the broadband test, this can be done either via the Sky app on mobile data or use the link below.

If it finds an external fault it should enable you to book an engineer.

At apparently 2.3km from your exchange i would estimate you should be getting 13Mbps and with the line drops does suggest a fault

That confirms you should be getting 15Mbps but also 80Mbps superfast is available

 

The best option is to upgrade to superfast to benefit from faster speed and if the fault persists at least you have a guarantee

but i don't really care about the speed, i need internet that doesn't drop

 

right at this moment it drops as soon as it's online for 10 seconds

 

the past 10 years i had 0 problems with it 😕

If the fault is in the 2km from the exchange problem solved . If its in the 300 or so metres from the cabinet then you have a very high minimum guaranteed speed that you can hold sky to ,plus any line drops of 10 or more in a 24 hour period will also be a fault. Your guarantee commences 10 days after installation

so that it dropped 30+ times today is no problem to sky? Only a problem if it's happening in the first 10 days after getting the connection? (just making sure i understand you correctly)

 

if it keeps happening, best option is to cancel sky and see if a competitor can get it fixed (?)

If after 10 days of activation you speed is less than the figures in the handback threshold (your actual guarantee will probably be notified closer to the time) or line drops 10 or more times a day then sky will have to investigate

just did the broadband test again, now it says i need an engineer to visit

 

however i did so while connected to another internet (5g - not sky)

 

does that make a difference? (sky router was still plugged in, and losing internet non stop)

That still invokes a line test to your hub. However not knowing where the location of the fault is in the 2.3km to the exchange may make sky reluctant to investigate knowing that you will be superfast soon.
